Pro Bowl 2012: Cam Newton Will Dazzle and Win MVP

Cam Newton finally earned a spot on the NFC’s Pro Bowl roster when Eli Manning advanced to the Super Bowl on Sunday night.

It is a deserving nod of accomplishments for a player who easily ran away with the Rookie of the Year award for his incredible season.

Just look at his stats.

He threw for a rookie-record 4,051 yards and 21 touchdowns. He also ran for 706 more and broke the QB rushing record by punching in 14 scores.

Now the world is going to see the amazing talent he has been flashing down in Carolina with the Panthers all season when he gets time on the field in Honolulu.

He’s also going to prove that he should have been voted onto the team in the first place, not selected as an alternate.

Obviously, Cam plays in a smaller market and the NFL’s decision to let the fans decide one-third of the vote translated into a deserving player being shunned in favor of a big-town QB like Manning.

It’s extremely tough to break in from a team that isn’t nationally televised often and has a losing record, which is why the Panthers only had three players make the NFC roster.

But anyone who has watched Newton play this year knows that the reason his team had a losing season was not in any way his fault. Their defense could not stop anything on the ground and played the pass poorly as well.

Regardless, he made it and Panthers’ GM Marty Hurney knows the importance of it, saying:

It puts you on the map. It’s a quarterback’s league, and he draws a lot of attention to the organization because he’s in that elite status. That brings your organization a lot of positive attention. When you put up numbers like that you will attract attention.

"

When Newton finally gets in the game, after Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers are done, look for him to put on a show with highlight runs and deep bombs.

It’s what he did all season; why stop now?
