WWE Legacy: Comparing 6 Future WWE Stars to Their Legendary Fathers
The inevitable truth of history is that it keeps moving forward.
The heroes of our fathers become the legends of our time.
The heroes of our time will eventually become legends themselves.
It is easy to critique the past and the present because it is always in plain view.
The future is the difficult thing to predict as it is simply impossible to know what truly will happen until it happens.
There are many young stars building themselves up in WWE's training ground FCW, and each of them could eventually become stars in the company.
Some of these stars have to worry about the past as much as the present as they must meet the legacy of their fathers before them.
Following are six stars who could eventually break out in WWE and an analysis of how they stack up to their fathers in terms of ability and potential.
IRS
1 of 11IRS was a good wrestler and a good mic worker.
Not great but definitely a good enough star to be a main-stay, mid-card talent.
That is exactly what he was.
He would make an impact for a long time as a star in the mid-card and a tag-team wrestler.
He would capture tag-team gold on a number of occasions including three wins with his long-time partner, Ted Dibiase Sr.
He left an impression even with a gimmick that could never be taken seriously.
He had two sons who must follow his legacy.
Husky Harris
2 of 11Husky Harris is a familiar sight to most fans because his time in NXT and as a part of Nexus.
He showcased great ability by showing agility and power with his unusual (for pro wrestling) body shape.
He also has decent mic skills.
He has all the tools to succeed yet he was moved back down to the FCW roster as Nexus was breaking up.
Why?
Reportedly, because higher ups want him to lose weight.
This is a bit strange seeing as one of his main attractions in his ability to move despite his body size.
Regardless, he will certainly be back as a star who could easily become even bigger than his father.
He could also try to measure up his father's five WWE Tag Team title reigns with his brother Bo.
Bo Rotundo
3 of 11The other brother, Bo Rotundo, is not quite as multi-faceted as his brother as he does not have much in the way of mic skills.
However, Rotundo could become a bigger star in the long run.
Why?
He is the ideal WWE superstar with his size, and he has the confidence of the company.
He is the only man to ever win the FCW World Heavyweight Title twice, though he held the title for less than a day for his first reign.
The title has generally been a good sign of things to come with every star until Rotundo making it onto the roster, and some finding great success such as Jack Swagger and Sheamus.
Rotundo is a good wrestler and will probably use that ability most when he comes to WWE.
If his success so far is any indication of what is in store for him, Bo Rotundo could become the most successful Rotunda (their actual last name) in the family.
Big Van Vader
4 of 11Vader is one of the greatest big man wrestlers in history.
He could do some incredible things in the ring at 450 pounds.
He also accumulated eight World Heavyweight Championships including three WCW World Heavyweight Title reigns.
Vader was not given any gold in WWE, but he was declared the Wrestler of the Year by PWI and Wrestling Observer in 1993.
This is not the kind of legacy that anyone wants to follow.
Jake Carter
5 of 11Jesse White, or Jack Carter as he has now been dubbed in FCW, is a young raw superstar.
Some of his early work obviously is showing a lot of promise.
It helps to have a legendary and supportive father who Carter has obviously learned a lot from as his move set has many similar power moves.
At the same time, Carter has a lot going for him as he is a four-time state champion wrestler, an All-American, and has a hard hitting past thanks to his success in football. He was apparently though of as a promising candidate for the NFL as a great football center, but injuries caused him to move away from the sport.
His work in FCW still needs a lot of work, but Carter has a ton of raw talent.
If he can talk on the mic, he could easily become a huge star, though it will be hard to match his father's success no matter what he does.
Only time will tell.
Eddie Guerrero
6 of 11A legend in the business, Eddie Guerrero carved out his own legacy from his already legendary last name.
Guerrero was one of the most gifted wrestlers to ever step foot in the ring, and it translated to winning many titles.
He is a Grand Slam and Triple Crown winner.
He was a 2006 inductee into the Hall of Fame.
His career was so legendary that his nephew Chavo could not even find a way to leave the shadow.
He also didn't hurt that he was one of the best mic workers and charismatic superstars in WWE history.
Raquel Diaz
7 of 11His daughter Shaul Guerrero just recently joined FCW, and she has a long lineage of stars to follow.
She has received a lot of praise from people for her ability and looks even this early in her career.
Personally, I have not seen much that has made think that she is a Guerrero in the ring, though her presence on the mic is surprisingly effective.
If she starts wrestling in WWE, she might be able to make a splash, though so far she has not shown immense talent in the ring.
I could see her being a valet or a manager like her mother Vickie for some stars.
Regardless, she has a long way to go to meet her father's legacy as a performer.
Sika
8 of 11A member of the great tag team the Wild Samoans, Sika is a legendary tag team wrestler.
He and his brother, Afa, would win 18 separate tag team titles in their careers, including three WWF World Tag Team Titles.
These men were some of the greatest wrestlers of the legendary Anoa'i family, which includes legends such as Peter Maivia, Rocky Johnson and the Rock.
Sika would be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame with his brother Afa in 2007, becoming the first members of the Anoa'i family to be inducted, though Peter Maivia and Rocky Johnson followed the next year.
That is an entire legacy of stars alongside a legendary tag team that the son of Sika has to deal with.
Leakee
9 of 11Leakee is one of the most improved young stars that has gone through the FCW system.
Watching some of his early matches to his latest matches, the change is staggering.
This young star has the look and the size to become a huge star.
All he needed was to mold his ring ability.
Watching some of his latest matches, he looks great.
He is athletic and powerful. He can do so much in the ring.
Leakee's only fault may be his charisma, though it has also improved greatly.
We'll have to see how far he can go in WWE, but I could see him becoming a huge singles star that could exceed his father's tag team legacy.
Ricky Steamboat
10 of 11Ricky Steamboat is easily one of the greatest wrestlers of all time.
His matches with guys like Ric Flair and Randy Savage are still considered some of the greatest of all time.
Steamboat has serious NWA gold attached to his name including an NWA World Championship, but he was only given one IC reign in WWE.
His abilities far outweigh the gold he has gained over the years, and his ability paved the way to his induction into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2009.
Not many men can claim to be better than Steamboat, and barely any in the future will be able to make that claim.
Richie Steamboat
11 of 11Richie Steamboat is one of the most exciting young prospects in FCW.
Sure, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose have their ROH backgrounds and great technical skill, but Richie has a talent that feels untapped so far.
He has inherited quite a bit of his father's ability with great agility and technical skill.
FCW hasn't shown him much love by awarding him with titles, but I still think that WWE realizes how talented Richie is.
He will never quite be his father in the ring, but all of the ability in the world to make it big on his own terms.
In a couple years, I could see Richie becoming a serious mid- to upper-midcard competitor in WWE.
It could go even further.
In pure accomplishments, I could even see him eclipse his father, given the chance.
