Watch Rampage Jackson in an Awkward Yet Funny Interview with Ariel Helwani
Interviewing fighters can often be an interesting experience. While most fighters are very outgoing, fun and respectful of the journalist who they are talking with, there are times when things get a bit awkward. MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani had one of those moments on Wednesday while interviewing UFC star Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.
Helwani is known as perhaps the most prominent mixed martial arts journalist in the world today. Whether it’s his radio show, his interviews with fighters or his exclusive, news-breaking interviews with UFC President Dana White; he just seems to be everywhere.
But somehow, Rampage didn’t seem to have any idea who he was, even despite having done countless interviews with Helwani in the past.
Jackson is normally one of the funniest, most laid-back interviews in the sport, but Helwani has now had back-to-back awkward interviews with the former light heavyweight champ.
It could just be that this is a giant “troll” on the part of Rampage, but despite Helwani trying to clear the air and calm things down, Jackson appeared to nearly ready to fight.
Helwani recently had another very weird interview with Strikeforce welterweight champion Nick Diaz, but this one may have actually surpassed it in terms of uncomfortable dialogue.
