EPL Transfer News 2011: Arsene Targets Benzema

The Premier League season is coming to an end. Manchester United were crowned Champions of England, and are now the best team in the country after securing a record 19th title.

Yesterday was historic. The City of Manchester buzzing from both sides as Manchester City won the FA Cup for the first time in 35 years.

Now to the beginning of the transfer buzz. A long summer is ahead of us and surely some rumours will not go away and some may turn out to be true, but one thing for sure, this may be the most expensive summer yet.

Manchester City are expected to go through a squad overhaul. Apparently 10 players may leave and be replaced.

Tottenham want to bring in players, but missed out on that Champions League place; will that be too costly for them?

Arsene Wenger has confirmed that he will add to the squad. Everyone is expecting a goalkeeper, a couple of defenders, a defensive midfielder and a striker to be added to the squad.

Goal.com reported last week that Jan Vertonghen is likely to make a move to the Emirates to partner Vermaelen. The Arsenal squad have been monitoring the player for a while now after failing to sign him last season.

There are strong and growing reports about Karim Benzema moving to Arsenal. The Metro says Real Madrid have given Benzema the green light to move if Arsenal match their fee of £25 million.

Benzema has stated that his preferred move is Arsenal. And the striker could mean the end of Nicklas Bendtner, who wants regular football.

News of the World reports that Arsenal are after Leighton Baines, an English prodigy at left back. The talented player, who scored plenty of goals, would become even better at Arsenal. But the Gunners face tough competition from Liverpool and Manchester City.

The same newspaper says Bayern Munich are plotting a £30 million move for Samir Nasri. Arguably one of the best players for the Gunners this season, it is essential for Nasri to sign a new deal.

Bayern Munich have confirmed they have agreed in principles to sign Manuel Neuer from Schalke. This will come as a blow to the rest of Europe who were tracking the German's progress with a view to a move.
