Just to make sure we all know that Raw is the A-show in the company, the WWE decided that the three SmackDown matches of the night were the first three in the televised card.
For the third PPV in a row, the World Heavyweight Championship was used as the broadcast opener, a “privilege” once reserved for mid-card titles.
With Christian in his corner, Edge defeated Alberto del Rio to retain the title in a match that lasted around 13 minutes.
Del Rio’s associates Brodus Clay and Ricardo Rodríguez interfered a couple of times, but that wasn’t enough to give him the victory over the Rated-R Superstar.
After the match, Edge & Christian vandalized the Bentley in which Del Rio had arrived to the ring.
The next bout on the card was between Rey Mysterio and Cody Rhodes, a very good performance from both wrestlers for around 10 minutes.
Near the end of the match, Mysterio took Rhodes protective mask and attacked him with it. But when he removed it, the referee distracted enough time to allow Cody taking Rey’s knee brace and hit him with it for the pin.
The third match of the night was just a filler.
The faces won after two or three minutes with a knock-out punch from Big Show to Heath Slater.
