I understand that there are moments in playe's career which are less stellar than others, but I think that Khalif Barnes being garbage is more than just an aberration.
If you didn't know by now, the Raiders picked up Khalif Barnes as a free agent in 2009 after he was cut by his previous team, like Gradkowski. He was highly penalized, highly beaten tackle then as he led the Jags in both penalties and sacks given up.
Consider the teams in which players like Barnes was cut from, and it really becomes sad when players like Bruce Gradkowski and Khalif Barnes go from being the Jags, Bucs and Browns trash to Oakland Raider treasure. Ouch.
I mean, if you've ever read any of my articles, you'd know that I always allude to the Jets game(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-R_wZiudcQ) when referencing Barnes. And I understand that players have bad games, and maybe he wasn't completely healthy. But dude got straight choke slammed, stepped on, then hopped over by Calvin Pace en route to popping the ball free from a helpless Russell. Damn. It was as if Calvin Pace knew ahead of time that dude was weak.
I saw that as the point where the season went completely downhill for Russell and the Raiders. Russell gets all the criticism. Cable picked this guy, and Im sure he lobbied for his re-signing.
The only reason Im going in so hard on Barnes is that despite what the bufoon say's, the O-line was the REAL reason the Raiders didn't make the playoffs, and that was supposed to be his responsibility. With Barnes at tackle, we can expect much of the same this year, and personally I think Cornell Green was far better than Barnes. Some fans actually believe Barnes was a good re-signing.
All jokes aside, the Raiders MUST draft an O-line men in April's draft as both of the tackle positions are shaky at best. Im going to go watch Barnes get body slammed again, laugh, and rue over the fact that it was first down, too.
Now mind you Cable supporters, this was the first play of the game and you call a 7 step drop on first down? Papa was pissed at that playcall.
That screen Leonard picked off was B.S. too beeing that Russell had got them to midfield on two passes. And you call a screen? Why?When was the last time the Raiders ran a successful screen? Tom Cable is amazing. I'm done venting. I have issues.
