McShay's Latest Mock: Iupati Best For Raiders?

Austin SwaimContributor IOctober 28, 2016

Before we get to the article, McShay's First 7 Mock:

1. Bradford

2. Suh

3. McCoy

4. Okung

5. Bulaga

6. T. Williams

7. Berry

OK, so at this situation, only two real tackles are left on the board for the 1st round are Bruce Campbell of Maryland and Anthony Davis of Rutgers. At this point, Anthony Davis had a terrible combine and not much college stand out play, and Bruce Campbell is (quote by Todd McShay) "a bad football player". Well, he is. Campbell has awful tape, and the only reason he is mocked anywhere near Round 1 is the Raiders. They assume we go for only workout warriors, and that isn't true. Since 2003, we have take "so called" safe picks in Tyler Brayton, Robert Gallery, Mike Huff, Fabian Washington, JaMarcus Russell, and Darren McFadden, all approved picks. So, where do the Raiders go? I think they need to go straight back. There is not much drop off from Campbell and Charlie Brown to Veldheer, Saffold, and Black of LSU. I think Oakland needs to trade down around the 15-25 range and take Idaho guard Mike Iupati around there. We could use another second round pick, and the Giants would love to hop the Broncos and Dolphins for McClain. Iupati can play both guard spots and right tackle.

So what do we do if we have Iupati and 2 second rounders. We hope that Charles Brown, Saffold, and Veldheer are there. Best case scenario, we take Charles Brown at #39. Then the Giants pick #46 if we made that trade, and then we could take either Cam Thomas of UNC or Geno Atkins of Georgia. Then we get our run stuffer, and all GIANT needs will be filled. Let me know what you think, but I would rather have Iupati at 15 then a bad tackle at #8.

Where can I comment?
