Rest of NFL Continues to Show No Class, Harrison Easy Pick For Dirtiest Player
And so it continues, whenever there is a chance to try and give the New England Patriots a black eye, the other 31 teams and the rest of the country fight to be first to take the punch.
ESPN asked coaches to vote on the dirtiest player in the NFL and the victor, Rodney Harrison, Safety for the Patriots. OK so lets get this over with first, yes I am from New England so all of you can just spit at me and say "Oh what a Homer" and stop reading right now, or you can listen and be educated. I myself believe after the Baltimore-New England night game last year, the entire Baltimore team should have won the classless, dirtiest, immature award, at-least the Patriots ate their words like men after the Super Bowl... Another complaint of mine is the fact that I know half the coaches at least didn't even think twice when they wrote Harrison's name down. They just thought how anytime he colors a millimeter out of the lines he's all over sports center and is the dirtiest thing since dirt itself ever since he hit precious little Jerry Rice helmet to helmet.
Anyways back to Harrison, even I find myself pointing the finger at him sometimes. But not for being dirty, just for doing ridiculously stupid things. Rodney enjoys being a champion, he enjoys being a winner, and I have a hard time believing he would jeopardize that by trying to play dirty. I myself believe at times he loses his cool, he just flat out stops thinking and does stupid things, then waves his arms around kind of like Peyton Manning but not as bad... no one could be worse than Manning.
So by in no means am I defending Harrison's 14 Personal Fouls since 2001, I'm defending his integrity for the game. There is no doubt he is an immensely intense football player, probably one of the most intense in the league; and I just believe he loses his common sense at times due to it. But one thing is for sure you always see him patting other teams player on the back, maybe in sportsmanship, maybe in instigation trash talk, but Rodney Harrison is just out there to have fun playing the game of football. You couldn't find another player that loves the game more, or gets into it more. Any real safety in the game should want to destroy anyone coming into their territory over the middle, and helmet to helmet is never purposely done, so don't tell me about how he hit Jerry Rice or anything like that.
So maybe I'm just another cocky pompous Patriots fan that thinks he and his team are better than everyone else but honestly everyone else jumps at any chance to taint Bill Belichick and his squad, and we aren't squeaky clean, but I doubt you are, scratch that, I know you and your team aren't either, we just got caught..
Note: Harrison isn't even the league leader in personal fouls, Adrian Wilson of the Arizona Cardinals has 17 since 2001, but its easy to point the finger at the well known. I guarantee if Harrison was a bum that never did a single thing to help his team his name wouldn't of ever even came up.
