Redskins Reaction: One Liners from the Experts

We asked our friends in Redskins media and blog nation to give us one line on what they thought the resignation of Vinny Cerrato means.  We asked the best of the best.  Here are the responses:

Tom Threlkeld (aka Spence) at DC Pro Sports Report “Getting Cerrato out of the organization and away from Dan Snyder is critical, but the real issue is where does this lead? Without his confidante, will Snyder now step away from personnel decisions and hire true professionals to run his team? That’s the shoe that hasn’t dropped.”

On Bruce Allen:   “Allen is respected around the NFL and represents a clear upgrade from Cerrato. He built a strong team in Oakland, but things didn’t go as well in Tampa Bay. He has strong ties to Jon Gruden, who will be working MFN in D.C. this week. Is Gruden coming to coach the Redskins? We’ll see.”

George LaFoon (aka Rat_Boy) at CPND“It mean’s I am one happy Redskins fan right now.”

On Bruce Allen:  “Maybe not my first choice, but much better than what was here.”

Rick Snider at DC Examiner and Rick Snider Report (love their post game videos – game reviews):  “Means a Merry Christmas around Washington.”

John Pappas at Warpath Confidential: “The specter of fan revolt and local blackouts became too much for Snyder, who capitulated to the demands of his customers.”

On Bruce Allen hiring:  Jon Gruden

John Keim at DC Examiner:  “It means hope for the fans It also means the Redskins will land one of the power coaches, probably Shanahan, because they made it clear they could not work with Vinny. And it could mean someone like Bruce Allen as the GM.”

On Bruce Allen: “He is not considered a per< he did not have final say  in Oakland or Tampa. He’s an administrator who works well with coaches and agents; my guess is Shanahan is still the coach on the horizon”
