The New York Giants are over!

The New York Giants are out of the playoffs with another loss. After losing to the Broncos on Thursday 26-6, they do need a lot of help. In order to get to the playoffs they have to beat the Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Redskins, Carolina Panthers and the Minnesota Vikings. That is a very hard schedule to win every game without losing, especially since only two of the teams have a losing record.

The offense for the New York Giants have failed with only averaging 24.7 points a game. Eli Manning is so unpredictable when he gets into the game, because he has 10 interceptions in 10 games. Eli has not played as well as he played in the past but he still has done a good job with 18 touchdown passes. His star wide receiver Steve Smith is one of the best receivers in the league. He averages 12.1 yards a catch and has five touchdown catches. His taking the empty stat spot on the roster where Plaxico Buress used to be. The wide receivers are a young team that are full of rookies or players that are actually starting for the first time. On Thursday’s game the receivers couldn’t get open and Eli took the hit for that. They need to work on moves to get past the opposing defensive players in order to win and get first downs.

The rushing game for the New York Giants have hit a rough spot. They are averaging 4.3 yards a carry and 8 touchdowns but they don’t seem to get big yardage. Having all six rushing plays that go over 20 yards and none that go over 40 yards. The rushing team needs to find holes in their running because just running straight into people are not good because it creates injuries. The other part of the running game, receiving punts and kickoffs aren’t looking to good. With Dominick Hixion running the kickoffs back for 24.7 yards which is okay. His longest kickoff return was for 68 yards but so far this year he has yet to run one back for a touchdown. He is even a worse punt returnee only averaging 11.8 yards per a punt return with his longest 27 yards and no touchdowns.

The defense for the Giants have also taking a beating this year with having one of the worst defenses in the league. The New York Giants gave up big plays after big plays, so far this year the opposing teams has had 42 kickoffs and only 27 punts off the Giants. The New York Giants have had a tough time stopping big pass teams with their holes in the secondary. Their defense is 4th in the league, some how desperate that they have lost 5 games and won 6. The defense has 23 sacks which is 15th in the league and is not good. The New York Giants defense doesn’t put the pressure on, they try but then they leave an opposing offensive player open and the quarterback just passes to the open player. They have nine interceptions with one returning for a touchdown, which is okay but they need to get interceptions against teams that are good. The defense can’t beat teams that have a winning record and that are good. They have lost it, in the beginning of the year they were okay but now they are really bad.

The New York Giants don’t look so good to go to the playoffs and this off- season they should fire Bill Sheridan. Bill Sheridan the defensive coordinator hasn’t helped them at all and their defense isn’t as strong. The New York Giants are getting to be an old team that needs fresher, new legs. They aren’t as fast, strong and they are very slow to get to players. The offense is good enough to play for a couple more years at the same level and have a good season. But the defense is the biggest problem for the Giants and they can’t compete at a high level with this kind of defense.
