LeBron James: 'I Lose Sleep' After Playoff Losses
Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James said Saturday he loses sleep after losing playoff games.
The four-time NBA Most Valuable Player discussed the impact of postseason losses as the Cavs trail the Boston Celtics 2-0 in the 2018 Eastern Conference Finals heading into Saturday night's Game 3 at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland.
"I mean, I lose sleep," James told reporters. "I mean, at the end of the day, when you lose any game in the postseason, [you lose sleep], so it's never comfort. Playoffs is never comfort. There's nothing about the playoffs that's comfortable until you either win it all or you lose and go into the summer."
The NBA's gold standard struggled in Game 1, but he's coming off a terrific performance in Game 2. He recorded a triple-double with 42 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds in 39 minutes of action. He made 16 of his 29 shots from the field, including five of 11 from beyond the arc.
It still wasn't enough for Cleveland to steal a game on the road.
The Celtics, who are playing without the injured Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward, continue to defy expectations by playing prototypical team basketball. They have tallied 51 assists and just 14 turnovers through the series' first two games.
Cleveland provided comments from James about getting the team's offense to match Boston's efficient attack:
A loss Saturday would not only likely cause James to lose more sleep, but it would put the Cavs in a nearly insurmountable 3-0 hole.
Game 3 is scheduled for a 8:30 p.m. ET tip on ESPN.
