Bobby Wagner Deletes Tweet Telling Earl Thomas to Keep His Name Out of His Mouth
Seattle Seahawks linebacker Bobby Wagner angrily defended himself against criticism from Earl Thomas in a since-deleted tweet Sunday, telling his teammate to "keep my name out yo mouth."
"E keep my name out yo mouth. Stop being jealous of other people success. I still hope you keep balling bro," the tweet read.
The Seahawks gave up 244 rushing yards in their 42-7 blowout loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, which all but ended the divisional race. Wagner played despite a lingering hamstring injury, drawing criticism from Thomas, who himself was on the injury report with a heel problem.
"To be totally honest," Thomas told reporters, "I think the guys that played, you've got to give your hats off to Wags and a couple guys that played, but my personal opinion, I don't think they should have played. I think the backups would have did just as good. But the injuries—Kam, Sherm, K.J.—they definitely hurt today."
Wagner has been dealing with a hamstring injury for much of the season, which he reaggravated last week against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He missed most of the second half in that contest due to injury and was pulled in the third quarter Sunday against the Rams amid the blowout.
Thomas said he noticed Wagner struggling to cover as much ground as he typically does.
"I have no clue," Thomas said. "But you normally see Wags running from sideline to sideline, and he just couldn't do it today. But I think he just waited a little bit too long to take himself out."
Wagner finished the game with seven total tackles, three of which were solo. His three solos and two the previous week are the two lowest of his season, which was at a certain point on pace to be the best of his career.
Seahawks coach Pete Carroll credited Wagner for playing "in warrior-like fashion" despite the injury.
