PSG Transfer News: Alexis Sanchez Contract Reportedly Agreed, Latest Rumours

Gianni VerschuerenJul 23, 2017

Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez has agreed to a four-year, £275,000-per-week contract with Paris Saint-Germain, who will now try to convince the Gunners to cash in on the winger.

That's according to Le Parisien (h/t Metro), which reported PSG are confident they can land their man, with an offer of £36 million set to come Arsenal's way.

Goal previously reported the Chilean traveled to Paris on Friday to discuss terms (via B/R Football), so the timing of the news makes sense:

Arsenal and Sanchez have been unable to come to an agreement on a new deal for the better part of the past year, and the forward is set to become a free agent at the end of next season.

The Gunners maintain they won't sell the 28-year-old under any circumstances, with manager Arsene Wenger recently dismissing the constant speculation as nothing more than rumours, per ESPN FC's Mattias Karen:

Get French Football News also believes a contract agreement between Les Parisiens and Sanchez means little in the grand scheme of things:

Arsenal are desperate for a positive summer after a poor 2016-17 campaign, which saw the team fail to qualify for the UEFA Champions League. Losing their top attacking player simply isn't an option, even if the alternative means he's likely to walk for free next summer.

PSG also didn't enjoy the greatest of seasons―their streak of Ligue 1 titles was broken by AS Monaco―but the French giants are expected to bounce back and will still compete in Europe's top club competition next term.

Blessed with plenty of young talent and deep pockets, PSG can attract enough stars to turn the squad around in a hurry. In the attacking third, the likes of Edinson Cavani and Julian Draxler are already standouts.

Convincing Arsenal to sell won't be easy, and if the Chilean stays put this summer, he seems more likely to join another Premier League team on a free transfer.

The weeks ahead of the new season will be crucial for Les Parisiens, who would make a massive step toward overtaking Monaco once more by adding a special talent like Sanchez.

Elsewhere, John Cross of the Daily Mirror reported PSG have met with the family of Domingos Quina, West Ham United's special 17-year-old talent.

The Portugal youth international spent the bulk of last season as a bench option for the Hammers but flashed his upside when he had the chance. Even though he moved across London from Chelsea just last year, he could once again be on his way.

PSG have developed a solid reputation for nurturing young talent the past few years, so the French giants could be an attractive destination.
