NBA Finals 2017: Warriors vs. Cavaliers Game 5 Odds, Prop Bets and Predictions

Paul KasabianJun 11, 2017

The Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers face off Monday night at 9 p.m. ET in Game 5 of the NBA Finals, which will be televised on ABC.

The Warriors hold a 3-1 series lead and can clinch their second NBA championship in three seasons with a victory in front of their home crowd in Oakland, California.

Here's a look at odds and Finals MVP prop bets for Game 5 as well as a pick.

Odds

The Warriors are 8.5-point favorites over the Cavs, with the over/under set at 230.5, per OddsShark.

Golden State is a massive -360 or -370 favorite to win straight up, per OddsShark, while Cleveland is anywhere from +290 to +300 to pull off the upset.

Per OddsShark, the line opened at Warriors minus-6.5 points before jumping up to 11. The spread then settled down to its current home at 8.5 points.

Considering that the Warriors are (a) 44-5 at home this season (including the playoffs), (b) have won every single postseason home game by double digits and (c) beat the Cavaliers by a combined 41 points in their first two NBA Finals games at Oracle Arena, bettors are undoubtedly confident in the Dubs' chances.

Prop Bets

Scott Campbell of OddsShark noted (before Game 4) that Kevin Durant was far and away the leader to win the NBA Finals MVP award at -250 odds. Stephen Curry was closest at +225, while LeBron James led all Cavaliers at +900.

Durant has been nearly unstoppable in the NBA Finals, averaging 34.3 points (on 52.3 percent shooting), 8.8 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game. Somehow, he's even shooting better from the free-throw line, making 91.4 percent of his attempts (Durant is an 88.2 percent shooter for his career).

A win will assuredly seal the Finals MVP for Durant, who has been the best player on the floor in this series.

Predictions

James and Kyrie Irving are averaging video game numbers for the Cavs in the NBA Finals. James is posting 31.8 points, 11.8 rebounds and 10.5 assists, while Irving is averaging 30.3 points (including 39.0 in his last two).

Although the Cavs didn't fare well in their first two games at Oracle Arena, James and Irving are so hot right now that it's hard to imagine a blowout occurring. They can keep the entire Cavs team in the game into the fourth quarter.

However, the Warriors simply have too much firepower on offense for the Cavs, and the Oracle Arena crowd will be deafening.

Durant hasn't scored fewer than 31 points in any of his four NBA Finals games, and Curry is nearly averaging a triple-double (25.0 points, 9.3 assists, 8.5 rebounds). Draymond Green does everything, and Klay Thompson can get scorching hot from the outside at any time.

Expect James and Irving to keep this game close but for the Warriors to pull away late and win the NBA Finals.

Score Pick: Golden State 120, Cleveland 110
