LeBron James Reportedly Irked by Podium Wait Time, Does Interview in Locker Room
Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James opted against speaking to reporters at the podium set up in the media room, as is customary during the NBA playoffs. Instead, James answered questions inside the Cavaliers' locker room.
ESPN.com's Brian Windhorst reported it was an issue of James being "frustrated having to wait to go to podium a few times recently."
Some wondered if the shift was a reaction to the Cavaliers' 132-113 defeat to the Golden State Warriors Sunday night. James told ESPN's Rachel Nichols it had "nothing to do with wins/losses."
LeBron may have wanted to skip the interview session altogether considering his terse response to a question about the Cavaliers defending home court over the next two games, courtesy of NBA TV. James' comments begin at the 34-second mark:
James has impressive numbers through the first two games of the Finals. He's averaging 28.5 points, 13.0 rebounds and 11.0 assists.
Yet, he'll need to do even more in order for Cleveland to overcome its 0-2 hole. LeBron may still be the best basketball player on the planet, but the Warriors are simply a deeper team with the offseason addition of Kevin Durant.
If the Cavs can't take both of their upcoming home games, it's hard to see how the series lasts more than five games when it returns to the Bay Area.
