Packers Lose 4th Straight Game for 1st Time Since 2008
The Green Bay Packers suffered a fourth consecutive loss Sunday in a 42-24 defeat at the hands of the Washington Redskins.
It marked the first time since Aaron Rodgers' first season as a starter in 2008 that the team has lost four games in a row, per ESPN Stats & Info.
Green Bay enjoyed a relatively smooth transition under center from Brett Favre to Rodgers. The only season the club finished under .500 since that transition came in Rodgers' 2008 campaign. In fact, the Packers have finished worse than 8-8 just twice since 1992, per Pro-Football-Reference.com.
While the offense has struggled at times this season, the club's defense has been a major problem of late. The Packers have allowed a combined 152 points over the last four contests and no fewer than 31 over that span.
The Packers have made the playoffs in each of the past seven seasons. However, they have won just one Super Bowl in the Rodgers era and just two since acquiring Favre from the Atlanta Falcons in 1992. Two championships over that time frame are nothing to scoff at, but some fans may be disappointed given the level of talent under center.
The road doesn't get any easier for Green Bay moving forward. Of the team's six games remaining this season, five of them come against teams with records of .500 or better. A win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football this week would likely be a necessity if the team has any hopes of extending its playoff streak.
