Wright Undergoes Surgery

Wednesday, Nov. 16

Marc J. Spears of ESPN reported that "Wright had arthroscopic debridement of his left ankle Tuesday," adding that there was no timetable for his return at that time.

Wright's Diagnosis Revealed

Tuesday, Oct. 25

The Grizzlies announced Wright is suffering from posterior tibialis tendinopathy.

Grizzlies No Stranger to Injuries

This is an all too familiar occurrence for the Grizzlies and their fans, as injuries decimated the team last year. At one point, Memphis was down to just seven healthy players in March after nine different Grizzlies suffered injuries, per Matt Moore of CBSSports.com.

One of those players was Wright, who was limited to just 12 games due to knee issues, including a sprained MCL.

It was his first season with Memphis, as the journeyman has played for six different teams in eight healthy seasons. He missed the entire 2009-10 season with the Golden State Warriors due to a shoulder injury.

As a reserve big man, Wright offers a decent offensive presence under the basket, averaging 7.1 points and 3.7 rebounds in 16.5 minutes per game in his career.

He was expected to provide relief minutes for starting center Marc Gasol this year. Gasol is coming off a bone bruise in his foot

With Wright sidelined, the Grizzlies will need to continue to dig deep into their frontcourt.
