C.J. Anderson, Devontae Booker Post-Week 7 Fantasy Advice

Rob GoldbergOct 24, 2016

C.J. Anderson has been the go-to option in the Denver Broncos backfield, but all of a sudden, there are once again two fantasy-relevant running backs on the roster.

Rookie Devontae Booker had his best night as a professional against the Houston Texans on Monday, creating an interesting situation going forward.

The Broncos had a plan to give both players a chance to shine during Monday's 27-9 win against the Texans, with each player having an even snap count in the first half, according to Nathan Jahnke of Pro Football Focus.

Booker took advantage of his opportunities by running hard and breaking several tackles along the way.

Pro Football Focus noted his ability to get yards after contact:

The fourth-round draft pick recorded 83 rushing yards and scored his first touchdown of the year on a one-yard run up the middle.

While he has struggled to get enough touches to show off his ability, Booker has displayed flashes of brilliance. He had 46 rushing yards on just five carries against the San Diego Chargers last week.

He won't be handed the starting role right away, but Booker has a lot of upside and should be on all fantasy rosters. Although it would be risky to start him in Week 8, there could be some big days on the horizon for the 24-year-old.

If you are looking to acquire him through a trade, now is the time.

Despite the breakout showing by Booker, Anderson had to be happy to finally put up good numbers after a few weak performances.

The 25-year-old had gone four weeks in a row without topping 50 rushing yards, but he came back strong with one of his best days of the season, recording 107 yards on the ground.

He also showed his value with a seven-yard touchdown run to help Denver take the lead in the first half, as the NFL showed:

There is likely some concern among fantasy owners as Booker continues to siphon carries. However, Anderson will keep getting touches as long as he puts up numbers like he did Monday night.

Some might want to sell high before Booker takes over in the backfield, but with a favorable set of games coming up against the Chargers, Oakland Raiders and New Orleans Saints, you might as well keep him in your lineup and get as much value as you can.

Hope he can remain healthy while holding off his teammate for as long as possible.
