Head coach Jay Gruden told reporters Breeland suffered a strained tendon in his ankle and is week-to-week, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.com.
Breeland exited the stadium on crutches after the game Sunday, per Master Tesfatsion of the Washington Post. X-rays on the injury were negative, according to JP Finlay of CSN Mid-Atlantic.
Redskins' Secondary Depth Lacking Behind Breeland
Washington doesn't have much in the way of experience at corner behind its two starters. Greg Toler is a seasoned vet, but both Dashaun Phillips and Quinton Dunbar are in their second seasons.
In his third season out of Clemson, Breeland had already racked up 19 tackles and one interception in Washington's first two games. While newcomer Josh Norman provided a lift to the secondary, Washington needs Breeland healthy to make the unit functional.
