Millsap Out vs. Pistons

Friday, Dec. 2

Keith Langlois of the Pistons' official website reported Millsap will not play Friday against the Detroit Pistons.

Hawks Need Millsap to Pace Frontcourt on Offense

Millsap is coming off one of the best seasons of his NBA career. In 81 games, he averaged 17.1 points and nine rebounds per game—the latter was a career high. The 31-year-old also reached his third straight All-Star Game.

With Al Horford and Jeff Teague gone, the Hawks need Millsap to continue being a tone-setter on the offensive end.

Dwight Howard has exceeded expectations since arriving in Atlanta, but the Hawks can't expect him to consistently score at the same level he did during his prime years with the Orlando Magic. Elevating Dennis Schroder to starting point guard in place of the departed Teague was a net negative offensively as well.

With Millsap out, Kris Humphries may see more time on the floor at power forward. Humphries attempted to add a three-point shot to his repertoire in 2015-16 but shot 31.5 percent from beyond the arc. He's connecting on only 30.8 percent of his attempts in 14 games this year.

Should Millsap be forced to miss a lengthy amount of time, his ability to stretch the floor will be sorely missed.
