Injuries Remain Issue for Ertz
This season, Ertz has accumulated 29 catches for 320 yards in an Eagles offense that is being led by rookie Carson Wentz.
But he has already missed time due to injury. During Week 1 against the Cleveland Browns, Ertz suffered a displaced rib, which kept him out for two games.
It appeared early on that he and Wentz worked well together. During that Week 1 win and Wentz's NFL debut, he targeted Ertz seven times, completing six passes for 58 yards.
And much like he's done for the first four years of his career, Ertz has shown that he has a finesse side while playing at a bruising position, via the NFL:
Ertz then went four games with 40 or fewer receiving yards; however, in Philadelphia's last two contests, he's caught a combined 14 passes for 152 yards, re-emerging as an important weapon in the passing attack.
In a carousel of quarterbacks, whether it's been Mark Sanchez, Michael Vick or Sam Bradford, Ertz has steadily improved throughout his career in Philadelphia.
Last year yielded 853 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 75 receptions, but it's unlikely his trend of improvement will continue with these injuries.
Brent Celek will play a larger role if Ertz is forced to the sidelines in the future. Before Ertz's arrival in 2013, Celek was the main tight end in Philadelphia for six seasons and averaged almost 580 receiving yards per season in that span.
