McCown Comments on Injury
Sunday, Sept. 18
"It is all right. I just fell on it a few times. I'll be all right, though," McCown said after Sunday's 25-20 loss, according to Michael McClymont of theScore. "Just for whatever reason, [I just kept landing] on the left side. It obviously was pretty frustrating. ... Obviously, it does not feel good, but that is part of the game."
Browns Searching for Consistency at QB
McCown, 37, didn't expect to see much playing time this season, with Robert Griffin III signing with the team in the offseason. But Griffin's shoulder injury in Week 1 gave McCown an opportunity to prove his worth.
He's performed well for Cleveland in the past, throwing for 2,109 yards, 12 touchdowns and four interceptions in eight games last year. He provided the Browns with stability during the tumultuous Johnny Manziel era, and the team retained him to provide security in the event that Griffin didn't thrive.
McCown finished his first start of the year with 260 passing yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions against the Ravens. He's not the long-term answer for Cleveland but has proved to be a nice stopgap while the Browns try to find a franchise quarterback.
