Rivers Comments on Griffin's Marrow Procedure
Wednesday, May 4
“A lot of guys have done this,” Clippers head coach said on Griffin's bone marrow procedure, per Rowan Kavner of Clippers.com. “The procedure’s not that big of a deal, it’s just I know when you do it, I think there’s non-weight bearing involved, and that slows the process. Quad Injury Sidelines Griffin for Rest of Year
Tuesday, April 26
The Clippers announced Griffin's season-ending ailment is an aggravation of the quad injury that forced him out of the lineup for 41 games in the regular season.
Injuries Decimate Clippers
Griffin missed a total of 43 games this season with quad and hand injuries. While the Clippers were able to keep their ship afloat in his absence, Griffin's stint on the sideline exposed their lack of depth. It also forced Paul Pierce into the starting lineup in December, and the extra playing time surely wore on the 38-year-old.
Rivers played Luc Mbah a Moute more than he did early in the season, which was a problem because the journeyman's a minus on the offensive end. But Los Angeles didn't have many other options off the bench.
Griffin's absence also likely taxed DeAndre Jordan. Jordan did an admirable job when Griffin was out, but the extended minutes were tough.
To make matters worse, the Clippers announced teammate Chris Paul is out four to six weeks with a fractured hand.
