One player at each of the important positions...
Matt Hasselbeck, QB, SEA
He missed most of '08 to injury, but before that "Bald Jesus" put up biblical passing numbers with subpar receivers. With T.J. "Houshyourdaddy" catching anything that comes his way, Edgerrin James moving the chains for tough short-yardage downs, and a revamped defense behind rookie stud Aaron Curry, Seattle’s offense looks to spend more time on the field. If six games against San Francisco, Arizona, and St. Louis isn’t appealing enough, then I don’t know what is.
Fearless Forecast: 3450 Yards, 23 TD, 15 INT
Leon Washington, RB, NYJ
The most explosive player on the Jets looks to have an increased workload this year. Sexy Rexy wants Neon Leon to touch the ball almost 20 times a game. Don’t be fooled by the presence of Thomas Jones and Shonn Greene. Ryan will make sure all of them get their touches, but Leon is an early frontrunner to be the impact back in the rotation.
Fearless Forecast: 150 carries, 710 yards, 5 TD; 57 rec, 520 yards, 4 TD
Robert Meachem, WR, NO
This former first-round pick is finally showing why the Saints drafted him. After an injury-plagued rookie year, Meachem showed some flashes of his potential last year. Now that he and Brees are on the same page, look for a resurgence from the Tennessee speedster.
Fearless Forecast: 55 rec, 770 yards, 5TD
Kevin Boss, TE, NYG
The big Bossman is probably Eli Manning’s longest-tenured receiver. When Jeremy Shockey was healthy, Manning loved to throw to him, and though Boss is no Shock, he had more red-zone targets than any other Giant and more receiving touchdowns last year, too. With questions surrounding who will start at WR, Boss seems like the only sure thing.
Fearless Forecast: 51 rec, 572 yards, 7 TD
