Colin Kaepernick, Vernon Davis' Instant Fantasy Reaction After Week 7
The Denver Broncos crushed the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday Night Football in Week 7, which led to a frustrating fantasy performance for many Niners players, including quarterback Colin Kaepernick and tight end Vernon Davis.

Kaepernick threw just one touchdown pass on the night, a bullet to Stevie Johnson in the back of the end zone from Denver's 4-yard line.

NFL Live's Trey Wingo liked the zip on Kaepernick's passes:
Davis, who has been hampered by a back injury at times this season, had another lackluster performance, reeling in just two of his five targets for 21 yards. CSNBayArea.com's Matt Maiocco noted that he missed a golden opportunity to pick up a couple more points during the game:
Davis has yet to record more than four catches in a game this season and hasn't scored since reeling in two touchdown catches in Week 1.
For a player that reached the end zone 13 times in 2013, this is a worrying development.
Kaepernick's willingness to spread the ball around to his talented skill players paradoxically hurts their fantasy value. The 49ers' wide receiver group is incredibly deep this year, featuring the likes of Michael Crabtree, Anquan Boldin, Brandon Lloyd and Johnson.

Some nights, there just aren't enough targets to go around. Davis' age, health and lack of production this season make him a TE2 at the moment, although he's definitely talented enough to turn things around.
With the Broncos up by a wide margin, Blaine Gabbert came in at quarterback to work a few plays toward the end of the game. This prevented Kaepernick from padding his stats, but it does show just how valuable he is to the team's run toward a playoff spot.
He's a must-start QB1 thanks to his talented skill players and ability to pick up yards on the ground when the passing attack struggles.
