The Complete Cincinnati Bengals Training Camp Guide

1 of 8

The Cincinnati Bengals enter training camp this year with less uncertainty than 2012.

Most starters have returned this season, making the starting lineups rather predictable on both sides of the ball. However, there have been plenty of additions that bring a whole new dynamic to the football team.

Bringing in a high-profile veteran like James Harrison and drafting explosive playmakers like Tyler Eifert and Giovani Bernard give this familiar-looking team a much-needed face lift.

What lacked in Cincinnati last year was the amount of home-run threats and consistent play. This year, they seem to have all of the personnel necessary to make a third consecutive trip to the playoffs.

Luckily for Bengals fans everywhere, it will all be documented through the cameras of HBO's Hard Knocks.

Roster Breakdown

3 of 8

The Bengals—much like every other NFL franchise—will enter training camp with 90 players on their roster.

Being that there are only 53 available roster spots, training camp will be one of the most difficult experiences of many player's lives.

At the end of August the coaching staff will be faced with a very tough decision—get the roster down to the final 53-man limit.

This means that 37 of these players will give it their all, but perhaps never get a shot with the franchise.

Burning Questions

4 of 8

The Bengals have had a relatively quite offseason. Not many big moves were made over the course of free agency—aside from re-signing their own players.

However, this roster will begin to take shape shortly. Even though many of the starters have already solidified their roster positions, there are still plenty of intense battles that will be taking place throughout the duration of training camp.

Many questions that continue to linger will begin to yield slight indications to their ultimate answers.

Which of these burning questions must be answered during training camp? Find out by clicking here.

Biggest Camp Battles

5 of 8

One of the most anticipated happenings during training camp are the ever-so-important positional battles.

Some of these contests will be fought for a starting position—others will be fought for one of the few remaining roster spots.

No matter which of these outcomes a player is intently battling for, they will leave everything they have on the field.

The Bengals have both rookies and veterans that will be in intense roster battles from the start of training camp until the final cuts are made in August.

Rookie and UDFA Watch

6 of 8

Some of the biggest excitement during the Bengals' training camp this year will be watching the 10 drafted rookies as well as the undrafted free agents that have joined the Bengals over the offseason.

There is plenty of talent at almost every position from a rookie this year—some have tremendous promise to make the final roster—others have a long, tough road ahead if they wish to stay in the NFL.

Many of these players will be involved in the aforementioned roster battles along with the Bengals' veterans.

Bubble Watch

7 of 8

Like every year, there will be a fair amount of players who are teetering on the edge of the roster.

Some will be fortunate enough to make the final roster—others must part ways with the team.

The competition will be so fierce during training camp this year that there will be some players that may be a surprise to either make the team or become free agents.

With so much talent on the Bengals' roster, the bubble will engulf more players than in recent years.

Projected Final 53-Man Roster

8 of 8

If the Bengals are to have a successful campaign in 2013, they must keep the right talent on the final roster.

The team will not be able to sneak up on anyone this season after making the playoffs in two consecutive seasons. It is imperative that the right players are kept for the right reasons at the right positions.

There are plenty of factors that come into play for the coaching staff as they make their final decisions when it is time to make the final cuts.

Those decisions could inevitably be the cause for either the success or undoing of this franchise in 2013.
