Marreese Speights and Derrick Favors Helping Rebound-Deprived Fantasy Teams

Have you been lacking in rebounds? Perhaps you never quite recovered from Kevin Love’s injury. Maybe you’re worried about Dwight Howard's ability to stay healthy.

Whatever the reason is that you’re lacking in the rebounding category, here are a couple of reasonably available options to help your fantasy basketball squad.

Cleveland Cavaliers big man Marreese Speights has helped pick up some of the slack from Anderson Varejao’s absence. During his last five games, Speights is averaging 15.6 points, 7.6 rebounds, 1.4 assists and a block per game, while also shooting 52.5 percent from the floor.

Unlike a lot of big men, he has not been a liability at the free-throw line, either. Speights has hit 13-of-14 free-throw attempts, which is good for 92.9 percent. Speights has recorded a double-double in his past two games.

Speights averaged just 14.5 minutes in 40 games for the Memphis Grizzlies this year. In his six games since coming to the Cavs, he is averaging 10 more minutes per game. With nearly 25 minutes of run on a bad team, there is fantasy production to be had.

Speights is eligible at both power forward and center, which adds to his appeal. He’s not a high-end option, but he can give you a little boost in points, rebounds and field-goal percentage.

Another player that has been hitting the glass lately is Utah Jazz big man Derrick Favors. In his past 10 games, Favors has averaged 11.6 points, 7.4 rebounds, 0.9 assists, 1.1 blocks and a steal while shooting 54.9 percent from the floor.

Unlike Speights, Favors has struggled a little at the line, hitting 62.2 percent of his free throws. Favors has averaged 9.8 rebounds in four February games.

He is also eligible at both power forward and center.

Neither player will make you run away with the rebounding category, but they both can help put up the slack.
