0 of 7

With the transfer window quickly coming to a close, every club will have many players linked to be coming or going. While most moves never materialize, they are often built on some form of truth.

For Barcelona, the recent news of Victor Valdes choosing not to renew his contract has sparked many rumors of new keepers being touted to come to the Catalan club (via Goal).

But it is not just keepers that the media is claiming that Barcelona has interest in.

In this article we will take a look at the latest players rumored to be coming to the Camp Nou or that Barcelona has on their radar. Some names may be surprising.

Continue reading to find the biggest transfer rumors for Barcelona as we near the closing of the January transfer window.

Marquinhos

1 of 7

Marcos Aoás Corrêa, more commonly known as Marquinhos, is a defender who has been rumored to be catching the eye of Barcelona, if Italian sources are to be believed.

Marquinhos is an 18-year-old center-back who currently plays for Italian club Roma. The youngster has already made a name for himself as he is quickly growing into one of the most exciting upcoming defenders.

The Brazilian stands six feet tall and is an exceptional tackler as well as being good in the air. However, his positioning is still growing with his young age.

Certainly Marquinhos would be a tremendous purchase for the future, but with Marc Bartra and Marca Muniesa already at the club, most fans are not taking the rumor too seriously.

Nonetheless, the rumor coming from Football Italia claims that Barcelona could be planning to make a move for the young defender for a price of €8 million.

Zuniga and Quintero

2 of 7

If Football Espana is to be believed, Barcelona may be looking at a raid on Serie A. Both Zuniga and Juan Fernando Quintero are rumored to be sought after by the Catalans in what would be a strange purchase.

Zuniga is currently plying his trade at Napoli. The 27-year-old winger has had a remarkable season thus far and is a solid player at his position. But many would argue that he is not quite at the Barcelona level.

However, the prospect of buying young Quintero may be a bit more believable.

Quintero is a 20-year-old midfielder who currently plays for Italian club Pescara. His performances since moving to Italy have caught the eyes of top clubs and Barcelona just may be looking to bring him to Spain.

Both players are represented by the same agent, Riccardo Calleri, who is cited as the source for the leak by Football Espana. While the agent could just be using this as a tool to help his clients, there may be some truth to the rumor.

Though fans should expect Zuniga to come to the Camp Nou, Quintero, on the other hand, actually could make the move. Though it is unlikely, Quintero does possess quality that could tempt the Catalan giants.

Updated Neymar News

Fans of world football must be tired of all the Neymar rumors by this point. But the longer the rumors continue to surface, the more it looks as though Barcelona may be the future club for the Brazilian.

Goal recently reported that Barcelona is using a “secret weapon” in their attempts to bring to 20-year-old to the Camp Nou.

The relationship of Dani Alves and Neymar is one to be admired. Neymar looks up to the Barcelona right-back as an older brother and considers everything that the defender tells him.

It appears as though Alves is trying his best to talk Neymar into choosing Barcelona despite interest from many other top clubs. Barcelona has already stated that they are willing to pay for the purchase and now only await the decision of Neymar and Santos.

Though is appears to be Alves’ personal mission to bring Neymar to Barcelona, the starlet has reiterated that it is his plan to remain at Santos until 2014 (via Goal).

Despite the interest from other clubs, it is clear that Barcelona continue to lead the chase for Neymar.

Thibaut Courtois

4 of 7

Barca has been tasked with finding an eventual replacement for Victor Valdes, and Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois has been selected as a potential target.

The Belgian keeper is currently on loan at Atletico Madrid and continues to show that he could become one of the best in the world at his position.

The Sun recently rumored that Chelsea were preparing for a move from Barcelona. It is clear that the young keeper is a future star, and the Catalans are looking to snatch him up.

On top of the interest from Barcelona, the report also claimed that Courtois is keen to continue his career in Spain. With a club of the likes of Barcelona currently in pursuit of him, Courtois may just see his dream come true.

But with plenty of time left to find a replacement, Barcelona will not be making any quick moves to bring in a new keeper. Though Thibaut Courtois is certainly a great potential replacement, it will be a while before a move is attempted.

Pepe Reina

Yet another keeper being linked with a move to the Camp Nou is Liverpool’s Pepe Reina.

The Telegraph reported that the keeper would possibly enjoy a move back to his former club where he grew up. The experienced keeper would certainly fit the Barcelona system, but would most likely be a step down from Valdes.

Reina’s father, Miguel Reina, made it known that a move to Barcelona would be in his son’s best interest and that he would personally love to see it happen.

Of all the keepers being linked with the Catalans, Pepe Reina is the only one who has experience with the club. He came through the youth ranks before debuting at the age of 18.

Barcelona may be exploring the option to bring in Reina, but fans should not expect it to happen. At the age of 30, Reina would not be a long-term replacement, which is what Barcelona is looking for.

David De Gea

6 of 7

Of all the Barcelona rumors swirling about in the month of January, there is one that has been in the headlines more than any other. Manchester United’s David De Gea may soon be coming to replace Victor Valdes.

The Daily Mail recently reported that David De Gea is the first-choice option for Barcelona and would be a solid replacement long-term. The keeper has finally begun to find his best form for Manchester United, and that has clearly caught the eye of the Catalan club.

De Gea is one of the best pure shot stoppers in the world but is also quite good at distributing the ball, which is a necessity for a Barcelona keeper.

The 22-year-old has everything that La Blaugrana is looking for, including interest in coming to Barcelona. With both sides pondering the move, it could likely happen this year.

David De Gea’s girlfriend also gave her thoughts on the potential move thanks to Goal. “David is very happy at Manchester United but of course he would like to return to Spain and if it's Barca it gets even better," she said.

But not everyone is excited about all the speculation.

ESPN recently reported that Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is angered by all the speculation surrounding his starting keeper.

Though it will most likely be this summer that Barcelona move to bring in a long-term replacement, it is clear that David De Gea is the most likely candidate at this point.

No Moves in January?

7 of 7

With the transfer window quickly closing, it is apparent that no moves will take place for Barcelona. The squad is completely healthy and performing and there is frankly no need of a big move.

However, this summer could be a very busy time for the Catalans. Neymar could likely be on his way as well as a new keeper and center-back.

The club has a lot to address and fans should expect moves to take place this summer. But for now Cules should not focus on the rumors and just enjoy the success that he club is having.

Players will continue to be linked to Barcelona, but only the club really knows what is going on. I will be here to give you news and analysis of any moves that do materialize both now and during the summer.

Enjoy the rest of the season, Barca fans.
