Free agent quarterback Dennis Dixon will join wide receivers Jericho Cotchery and Jerome Simpson to work out for the St. Louis Rams today, according to Turf Show Times.

It was reported last week on Bleacher Report that Pittsburgh Steelers free agent Cotchery would work out for the Rams either Tuesday or Wednesday, and reported last night that Cincinnati Bengals receiver Simpson would work out for the team today. However, Dixon's workout with the team is a new development.

Quarterback Tom Brandstater re-signed with the Rams over the weekend, but the search for a veteran presence at the position has been something the team has been looking for since the beginning of free agency. The Rams have also met with Brady Quinn, Shaun Hill and Jason Campbell, however all left St. Louis without contract offers.

Kellen Clemens also remains on the team.

The 27-year-old Dixon has spent his four-year career with the Steelers, starting just three games. He has 35 career completions out of 59 attempts for a 59.3 completion percentage. He has thrown for 402 yards and one touchdown while securing a 71.4 career quarterback rating.

The 6'3" quarterback was drafted in the fifth round (156 overall) by the Steelers in the 2008 NFL Draft out of Oregon.

Dixon has also met with the Denver Broncos to backup Peyton Manning.
