Cincinnati Bengals free-agent wide receiver Jerome Simpson will arrive tonight to meet with the St. Louis Rams, according to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. He will work out for the team Wednesday.

Simpson, who may be best known for his flip over a Arizona Cardinals defender in Week 16, is scheduled to be sentenced Thursday in Kentucky after pleading guilty to one felony drug charge.

The free agent was detained last September after a police investigation traced 2.5 pounds of marijuana to Simpson's home in Kentucky. An official with the National Marijuana Initiative said Simpson's home was set up for distribution of the drug, according to a report. An additional six pounds of marijuana were found in his home.

He faces fines and up to 60 days in jail, in addition to a suspension from NFL commissioner Roger Goodell's office.

In his four-year career, Simpson has 71 receptions for 1,004 yards and seven touchdowns, although he only played in a combined eight games in 2008 and 2009. His career year came last season when he caught 50 receptions for 725 yards and four touchdowns.

The leading receiver for the Rams last season who's still on the team is Brandon Gibson, who caught 36 passes for 431 yards and a touchdown.

The 26-year-old, 6'2", 190-lb receiver was drafted in the second round (46th overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft by the Bengals out of Coastal Carolina.

The Bengals are also reportedly interested in bringing Simpson back.
