Stevie Johnson, Shawne Merriman Recruit Vincent Jackson for Bills on Twitter

Chris TrapassoJun 2, 2018

Buffalo Bills wideout Stevie Johnson and defensive end Shawne Merriman have taken to Twitter in recruitment of free-agent receiver Vincent Jackson.

It shouldn't come as a surprise that Johnson and Merriman are using the popular social networking site, as both are extremely active users who have sent out more than 9,000 tweets over the last few years.

Merriman was the first to direct a tweet at his former San Diego Chargers teammate this morning:

Now, he obviously could be wanting to talk to Jackson about something entirely unrelated to the Bills, but it's worth noting the joke included at the end of the message.

About an hour-and-a-half later, Johnson, the avid Twitter user, echoed Merriman's request:

Pretty much the same tweet.

Shortly thereafter, Johnson sent out this tweet, outlining what seems to be his dream receiving corps in Buffalo:

There's a good chance Roscoe Parrish isn't re-signed after injuries have curtailed his production over the years, and "Nyce" is former University at Buffalo standout Naaman Roosevelt who played in a limited role last season.

David Clowney was signed in January, and Martin was re-signed last week. Both guys are unlikely to play major roles in the offense next year.

He blatantly left out Brad Smith, but there's much to that. Johnson certainly seems to have a good and playful relationship with all his teammates.

Marcus Easley, the 2010 draft pick out of UConn that was held out of the 2011 season due to a heart condition, was mentioned in a separate tweet a few minutes later.

Around 1:10 p.m. Johnson finally acknowledged Smith with a hybrid car reference:

The guy has fun on Twitter, that's for sure.

I fully expect the Bills to make a legitimate play on Jackson when he officially becomes a free agent at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

My guess is they offer him a deal in the neighborhood of $10 million in annual compensation.

It'll be interesting to see the reaction from Merriman and Johnson if Buffalo is ultimately outbid by a team like the Chicago Bears or Washington Redskins.

It seems like they'll be disappointed, but they'll welcome any Bills' free-agent acquisition with open arms—probably in the form of a nice Twitter endorsement.
