With the trade deadline just one month away, the New Jersey Nets are at the center of almost every major deal. Unfortunately, they're also one blown deal away from losing everything.

According to ESPN's Chris Broussard, Deron Williams will leave New Jersey if they cannot acquire Dwight Howard. With the likelihood of that declining day by day, it may be time to maximize the value of Deron Williams and get something before he leaves for nothing. Only question is, who can actually match his value?

Enter the Sacramento Kings.

With a likely lottery pick and a surplus of young talent, the Kings have everything they need to save the Nets from long-term mediocrity. For Sacramento, Deron Williams could be the player to save their franchise...

The Obvious Mention: The Nets Have Lost Enough

Not only have the Nets lost 21 of their first 29 games, they've also lost a big piece of their future in the process.

In acquiring Deron Williams, the Nets gave up 2010's third overall draft choice, Derrick Favors, as well as franchise point guard Devin Harris and two first-round draft picks.

One of the picks they traded away ended up being 2011's third-overall draft choice. The other is likely to be a top-10 pick in 2012.

It's time to stop losing.

3. The Necessary Pieces

Unlike the lopsided Chris Paul trade from December, the Kings and Nets could actually make an even deal. With a potential lottery pick and a surplus of young talent, the Kings have all the means necessary to match the trade value of Deron Williams.

The Kings currently sit eight games below .500, adding additional value to their first-round pick. With the Nets lacking a first-round draft choice themselves, a potential lottery pick is a definite turn on.

Add in rookie Jimmer Fredette, 23-year-old J.J. Hickson and 20-pluss point scorer Marcus Thornton, and the Kings could provide the value necessary to get this deal done.

2. Building for Brooklyn

As the Nets head to Brooklyn, it'd certainly be ideal to have a superstar on the roster. That marketability alone would fill seats, thus ushering in a new era with a sign of life. To achieve this, it would behoove them to avoid losing Deron Williams for nothing in return and look to the draft and free agency.

While the Kings may not be able to provide a superstar, they could offer marketability. Jimmer Fredette has a rabid fanbase, and he'd certainly sell tickets if he began to light it up from distance.

With Brook Lopez, one of the top five centers in the NBA, the Nets now have a one-two punch worth talking about. Add in future star Marshon Brooks, and the Nets have breakout potential.

With the addition of Marcus Thornton, the Nets take the first step towards pleasing their fans. Thornton and Brooks alone could provide the Nets upwards of 40 points per game, and with Fredette and Brook Lopez running an inside-out game, the Nets could be the Eastern Conference's version of the Golden State Warriors.

The key to all of this, however, is J.J. Hickson. After a promising campaign in 2010, he's been a bit of a disappointment out in Sacramento. Would the Nets really take a chance on him? Considering he's just 23 years of age and capable of some highlight plays, I'd say yes.

Add in the possibility of a franchise player being drafted, and the Nets have a formula to success.

Available free agents include Dwight Howard, Steve Nash, Gerald Wallace and Javale McGee. What's to lose?

1. Saving a Storied Franchise

What better way to save a franchise than to give them their first star since 2005?

Since Chris Webber's untimely departure, the Kings have been searching for identity. Williams' arrival, however, would change all of that. With a new found hope in the Kings' fanbase, Deron Williams could potentially give the team enough momentum to remain in Sacramento.

With Williams at the point, Tyreke Evans would move back to his more natural position at the two. With DeMarcus Cousins manning the low post, the Kings would suddenly have a potential Big Three of their own. Maybe more importantly, the Kings would gain leverage in free agency.

A player like Deron Williams is always capable of drawing top talent, and with so much of that on the market, it'd be hard to imagine the Kings going home empty handed. Even if it's not Dwight Howard, imagine the possibilities of Gerald Wallace playing on the young and athletic Kings.

With the Kings becoming a hot-bed for free agency, they may be able to stay in Sacramento.

Fingers crossed...
