Peyton Manning Rumors: Jets Should Give Mark Sanchez Another Shot
The New York Jets would be stupid if they gave up on Mark Sanchez already to go after a rental quarterback in Peyton Manning.
After all, it's not exactly like Sanchez has been an epic disappointment in New York. He has a 27-20 career record. The touchdown-to-interception ratio of 55-51 isn't bad for a quarterback who just completed his third year, and it will get better.
So, if you're a Jets fan, reading that they would be interested in bringing in Manning is not a good thing.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Brian Costello of the New York Post said the Jets are a team who would be interested in bringing in the future Hall of Famer:
"If Manning becomes a free agent, the Jets likely will consider bringing in the former Super Bowl champion. Despite their public declarations that Mark Sanchez will remain the starting quarterback, the opportunity to see Manning in green and white might be too delicious for owner Woody Johnson to pass up.
"
Chris Botta of the New York Times also tweeted an interesting parallel the Jets have already experienced.
In case you need a little reminder, the Brett Favre experiment was anything but an unqualified success.
The team started 8-3 only to finish 9-7. Favre had a year that defines his career as well as any one season. He threw for nearly 3,500 yards and had 22 touchdown passes, but had as many interceptions.
Remember, Favre was a future Hall of Fame quarterback coming off one of his best career seasons in 2007. Manning is coming off a season where he didn't play a single snap.
He is also a quarterback that's played his entire NFL career in a dome. Moving to an outdoor stadium would be an adjustment, especially late in the year.
The Jets need to learn from their mistakes. When they brought Favre in for the 2008 season, they didn't have a quarterback in place that had been successful.
That is not the case with Sanchez. There isn't one other quarterback in the NFL from either conference that has been in two conference championship games over the last three years.
Sanchez has already shown he can win games. They need to give him time to let the passing numbers match the record. Bringing in Manning would be giving up on Sanchez. It would take nothing more than three years for New York to be searching for another quarterback.
That is not a good model for success in the NFL. The Jets need to stay with the man currently under center for at least one more season.
