Jersey Shore's Snooki as Boxing Promoter Will Help Save Dying Sport

Snooki is going to be a boxing promoter. Take a second to absorb that information and think about what it means for the sport. 

The news, that was reported by Black Sports Online, has to be a good thing for fans of the sweet science. The only thing better would be if she entered the realm as a fighter. We know that Snooki's not afraid to throw down in the right situation. 

But in all seriousness, drama is the only thing that consistently sells fights. Every now and again, you'll find a fight where the names of the two fighters does all the necessary selling, but those fights are few and far between.

Anyone who's followed Snooki or Jersey Shore for as much as three consecutive seconds knows one thing. It's all about the drama. 

Sports in general are made more interesting when there's an element of drama to them. When LeBron James was in Cleveland, he was just a great player. When he took his talents to South Beach, he because the world's most despised man. 

Think about that and multiply it by 10 when it comes to one-on-one combat sports. The drama before the fight, between rounds, or after the fight does all of the selling needed. Nothing actually needs to happen. 

Snooki can create that drama for herself, and can easily create it with two men whose job is to beat the other down.

Boxing thrives when it's a circus. If it's two good guys being promoted by a "good guy" promoter, there's not a lot of drama. You need two fantastic fighters with huge names to make that fight work. And even then you need some conflict. 

But one simple element of doubt will add up. Make the fans wonder, "Do these two really hate each other outside of the ring?" 

Creating drama is something that Snooki has made a career out of doing. She'll have no problem doing it again in another realm.
