Tonight at UFC 140 we get to see the rematch between Frank Mir and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. The last time these two met, Nogueira was not at 100 percent and claims that this time he is. Mir says it won’t make a difference.

No matter who ends up winning in this fight, it’s sure to be an awesome match up. Each fighter has some great stand-up and some wonderful skills on the ground.

Read on to see how this fight breaks down.

Striking: Advantage Mir

The last time these two met the story of the fight was Mir’s stand-up. Whether or not Nogueira was sick, Mir’s boxing looked great, and Nogueira’s head movement looked awful.

That being said, Nogueira’s stand-up looked great in his fight against Brendan Schaub.

Despite that fact, until we see if Nogueria has improved his head movement enough to deal with Mir’s striking, Mir is still getting the advantage going into this fight.

Grappling: Advantage Nogueira

Frank Mir has a black belt in BJJ, but has admitted himself that he’s weary of going to the ground with “Big Nog.”

Nogueira’s ground game is one of the best in MMA. He’s got a dangerous guillotine, and was one of the first heavyweights who was extremely threatening on the ground.

Frank Mir would be smart to keep this fight standing where things are more in his favor.

Cardio: Push

Both of these warriors have some great conditioning for heavyweights. There is no quit in either man.

Nogueira and Mir will also both work tirelessly for a victory, which is one of the biggest reasons this match up is so exciting. Each man has something to prove, and they’re going to be going for broke.

Prediction: Rodrigo Nogueira Via Third Round Submission

This fight is incredibly hard to call. Both fighters are so talented, but Nogueira is going to be coming out with something more to prove.

Frank Mir has a win over Nogueira, and is more than likely going to be looking to do the same thing he did last time, which is keep the fight standing.

Nogueira wants to prove that Mir’s victory was a fluke. Big Nog will look to pressure Mir in the stand-up, but ultimately he’ll take the fight to the ground, and move for a submission victory.
