Drama in Dallas: Will It Effect Playoff Hopes?

Benjy MillerDec 19, 2008

Philadelphia Eagles fans can only hope so. News of Terrell Owens, Tony Romo, and tight-end Jason Whitten has been going around for quite some time now. But, will it throw off their game? We can only hope.

The Cowboys won against the struggling New York Giants last week. This was after reports that Owens was "jealous" of Romo and Whitten making secret plays. The Cowboys need to win this critical game against the Ravens, not necessarily to keep playoff hopes alive, but to increase their chances of going.

The Philadelphia Eagles go into this week playing a 7-7 Washington Redskins team that has been struggling. Philadelphia needs to win; no ifs, ands, or buts here. The Redskins are on a three-game losing streak. They started the year 6-2, but it's been all downhill from there. They are now out of playoff contention.

The Eagles, on the other hand, are on a three-game winning streak and could possibly be the hottest team in the NFL. Whatever it is they are doing, they had better keep at it. After starting the year 2-3, last in the NFC East, it appeared that the playoffs would not happen. But did that stop McNabb and the Eagles? No.

The Eagles end the season at home against Dallas. The last game played between the Eagles and Cowboys was no good for either fantasy defense. The score was 37-41 in favor of the Cowboys. Let's show the Cowboys we are for real!

Even with star running back, Brian Westbrook, out with injuries, the Eagles have found ways to win games, and boy, have they needed them! With just two weeks left to go, the Eagles find themselves in position to take over a wild card position. All they have to do, is win the rest of their games, and pray that Atlanta or Tampa Bay loses at least one game.

Or, they could always do this the tricky way. They could win one game, preferably against the Cowboys, and hope that the Falcons, Buccaneers, and the Bears lose the rest of their games. Seems unreal, huh? We thought playoff hopes were unreal in week 11 when we were 5-5-1. Great time to get hot, let's just stay hot and advance to the wild card game!

I believe, do you?ย

Now I have to go babysit for a Cowboys fan, wish me luck! ;)
