New York Yankees: Top Prospects That Will Make Majors in 2012

Kenny ServeraNov 16, 2011

The future is now for the New York Yankees.

As the current roster is getting older, the Yankees should consider to call up all of their best young talent. We already saw Jesus Montero make his major league debut this season and did pretty well. He is expected to be the team primary designated hitter this coming season.

There are many more prospects in the Yankee farm system who will be called up eventually.

To the slides we go.

Manny Banuelos

1 of 5

Clearly the best pitcher the Yankees have in the minor leagues.

During spring training last season, Manny Banuelos made a good impression and the Yankees are very excited about the future of this young man. He commands a above average fastball and a very good changeup. He also have a great breaking ball and has great maturity on the mound.

It won't be long before he is called up to the Yankees.

Gary Sanchez

Who?

Gary Sanchez is the player living under the shadow of Jesus Montero, and he is a better all-around player than Montero.

Sanchez can hit for power and average and is actually a better defensive catcher than Montero. The scariest fact about him: He is only 18 years old.

Give him a full season to get him some experience in a major league game.

Adam Warren

Here's another really good pitcher who could be in the Yankees rotation.

Adam Warren a 2.59 ERA last season in the minors. According to the Yankees, GM Brian Cashman has his eye on him for quite awhile.

Apparently, he wants him in a major league rotation sooner rather than later. He could make a pretty good fourth starter.

Cito Culver

The successor to Derek Jeter.

Cito Culver was drafted by the Yankees in 2010 and many are comparing him to Derek Jeter in the minor leagues. He is very short in stature and Has an above average arm. He is also a switch-hitter who surprises even the harshest critics.

If Jeter retires, look for Culver to take his place.

Slade Heathcott

5 of 5

Slade Heathcott was drafted straight out of high school back in 2009. The Yankees speak very highly of him.

The Yankees believe Heathcott will continue to develop his power stroke from the left side and has an above average arm. Heathcott, who has good speed as well, is projected to be a starting outfielder some day in the majors.

Also he's a fighter. See the video above.
