Mario Manningham Injury: Giants WR Is a Fantasy Football Must-Sit in Week 10
Starting Mario Manningham on your fantasy football team would be a grave mistake. The list of reasons to not include Manningham in your lineup is endless.
First off, the New York Giants will be forced to face off against the San Francisco 49ers. Ahmad Bradshaw is out, so that means that the 49ers will be able to focus on playing the pass more than they would've if Bradshaw played. Opposing quarterbacks only average a 78.0 passer rating against San Francisco this season, which is good for sixth in the NFL.
According to ESPN, Manningham is questionable because of swelling in his knee, and while Hakeem Nicks is questionable as well, Nicks is still expected to play. Throw in the fact that Victor Cruz and Jake Ballard have become such major parts of the Giants passing attack and that will translate to Manningham being given fewer targets. Even though Manningham has fully practiced all week, the reward for starting him is still not worth the risk.
Manningham hasn’t had a 100-yard receiving game all season; his high is just 63 yards. He also has only caught two touchdowns this year. The pair of scores happened to be in the last two contests, but still, consistency has never been his strong point.
Not that you need another reason to allow Manningham to keep your bench warm this weekend, but the Giants-49ers game is a late one scheduled to play at 4:15pm EST. If he doesn’t play and you aren’t lucky enough to have a wide receiver available who's slotted for a primetime contest, starting Manningham would be disastrous.
The former Michigan Wolverines wide out will be a game-time decision. No matter what the Giants decision is on Sunday, yours should be to sit Manningham. If he’s in your starting lineup, you must’ve really had a poor draft.
