Joe Paterno was fired tonight after 46 years of leading the Penn State Nittany Lions.

After a huge scandal that rocked the nation, we are all shocked by the decision. It's tough to see such a coaching legend fall like he did, but it was the right thing to do following the allegations.

The NCAA doesn't need to take action in this case, although it will be called on by a lot of people.

The university is cleaning house and trying to get rid of everyone that was a part of the program, including their legendary head coach.

The NCAA will not need to take any action, if this is done properly and quickly. Although assistant coach Tom Bradley was named the interim head coach, he needs to go as well.

Although the events are stunning and shocking to everyone, there were no NCAA violations committed during this scandal, although many moral ones.

There is a point where the NCAA has no control over things like this and should leave it to the courts to sort out. That is exactly what should be done right now.

Although a statement is needed and some steps might be taken against members of this program who were involved in this scandal, there is no need for the NCAA to rub salt into the wounds of the Penn State nation any further.

The NCAA needs to step aside on this one and let things pan out. Although many will expect some action against the university, it is not in the boundaries of the NCAA to get seriously involved in this scandal.

It is sad to see a legend go out like this, but even more disheartening is the fact that innocent lives were affected.
