At UFC 137, Nick Diaz took down former UFC champion BJ Penn, and is quickly becoming a household name for fight fans. Diaz is a bit of a character, as he loves to trash talk and get into his opponents' heads.
There are a lot of professionals in the UFC who fight with honor, technique, skill and respect. These guys make up the majority of the UFC roster, and have become the face of the sport.
Some fighters do things a little differently...
Nick Diaz is hated by a lot of people because of the way that he does everything. You either like his persona, or you hate it. There is no middle ground.
Diaz is compelled to do some kind of trash talking every time there is a microphone in front of him, and probably even more so when there isn't one.
In the ring, Nick constantly taunts opponents and talks trash. He drops his hands in almost every fight to taunt his competition.
He doesn't seem to care about press conferences either, as he lost his fight with GSP because he missed a couple leading up to the event.
He was also involved in the post-fight brawl at a Strikeforce event.
Nate Diaz is pretty much a clone of Nick Diaz. He does everything a bit less, but still has a bad-boy reputation.
Inside and outside of the ring, they are very similar. Nate trash talks and also taunts an awful lot in his fights.
Brock Lesnar is tough as nails, and has gained a reputation as a bad boy in the UFC.
Brock is a beast of a man who tries to demolish anything that's put in front of him. Lesnar crushed Frank Mir in their second fight, and afterwards yelled at the camera violently enough to scare children before they're even born.
Brock was hated by many people in the WWE, and he has carried that reputation over into the UFC.
Leonard Garcia is as close to a shoo-in for Fight of the Night as there is in the UFC. Leonard is an absolute brawler, and throws every punch with the intent of killing whoever is in front of him.
Garcia has no fighting style whatsoever; he just swings for the fences. It must be a pain for his trainers, because he throws all the technique he's taught out the door the moment he steps into the octagon.
Quentin Jackson is tough as hell, and he is always up for a scrap. He's a born fighter, who has bad intentions behind every punch he throws. Rampage has had many memorable wars, and even more brutal knockouts.
He's earned his bad boy persona, and does everything he can to live up to it.
Josh Koscheck is one of the most hated and dirty fighters in the UFC. He constantly talks trash before fights, and has arrogance that would make Terrell Owens jealous.
Koscheck has poked eyes, faked injuries and generally pissed off most of the people he has fought.
Chael Sonnen trash talks possibly better than anyone, ever. He has turned it into an art form, and he could probably get paid to teach classes.
Sonnen doesn't care what anyone thinks about him, and he always says what's on his mind. He's a grinder who wears out opponents in a way that would make anyone frustrated.
