Ball State vs Oklahoma: Last-Minute Spread Info and Predictions
Unfortunately for the Ball State Cardinals, they have a visit with No. 2 Oklahoma Sooners this weekend, and the Sooners aren't too happy.
After being pegged as the preseason No. 1, the Sooners have held on to the top-spot until last weekend when LSU snagged it from them after an impressive road win against West Virginia.
The truth is in the pudding with the Sooners. They aren't deserving of the No. 1 ranking, or at least their schedule hasn't determined so. Their only test was against Florida State, and they beat them by knocking out quarterback E.J. Manuel.
If the Sooners want to regain the No. 1 spot they need to start proving their worth against good teams.
Ball State coming in at 3-1 has had some good wins and is 1-0 in the MAC, but there is no way they will be able to hang with the Sooners.
It's will be chalked up as a lose-lose game though, as the Sooners aren't gaining anything from beating the Cardinals besides another meaningless win against another extremely inferior opponent.
Current Betting Line (Bodog.com): Oklahoma -38
What's At Stake
The spread says it all, the Sooners are expected to destroy Ball State and anything less will be a failure. From the Cardinals' perspective, they are looking at arguably the biggest upset ever, and the prospect of ruining a national championship bid.
Last-Second Injury News
Ball State: Center Kreg Huner questionable (leg), linebacker Travis Freeman questionable (foot), cornerback Jeffery Garrett questionable (quadricep), cornerback Jason Pinkston doubtful (undisclosed injury), cornerback Odis Prunty doubtful (concussion), center David Raffin doubtful (leg), offensive tackle Austin Holtz doubtful (knee), cornerback Quintin Cooper doubtful (knee).
Oklahoma: Wide receiver Kenny Stills probable (concussion), defensive back Aaron Colvin questionable (head), Ben Habern (arm).
Key Matchup
If the Cardinals can somehow get to Oklahoma quarterback Landry Jones, then they may have a chance at the upset. They need to force turnovers and capitalize on every single one of them.
Sleepers To Watch
Ball State needs to control the ball, which means they are going to have to give it to Jahwan Edwards. He's rushed for 301 and six touchdowns so far on the year.
Oklahoma receiver Kenny Stills is the sleeper to watch. He's going to get a ton of open looks and should be able to burn whoever is covering him on defense. He only has one touchdown on the year, but I expect him to at least double that against Ball State.
Prediction
As prepared as Ball State could be for this game, there is no way they are beating Oklahoma.
