Caption: This man is the UFC Heavyweight champion after only four MMA fights
Brock Lesnar lands a left jab followed by a right straight, and we have a new heavyweight champion. He advances in the UFC’s heavyweight tournament and will face the winner of Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira/Frank Mir. For everyone that doubted Lesnar, including myself, we can doubt no more.
In a very physical fight, where Randy was able to establish himself, he simply got caught by Brock’s ham hocks. He couldn’t avoid the strength difference when Brock is landing cleanly on Randy’s 45-year-old face. Verdict: Round Two finish by TKO
While many may be surprised that the title fight only lasted two rounds, it seems like something was in the water at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Never before can I recall a fight card where only one fight went to the judge’s scorecards.
Several fighters were also guilty of “quick climax” wins tonight.
Demian Maia made quick work of Nate Quarry and sunk in the near naked choke at 2:13 of the first round. Maia was already considered a top 10 middleweight and this win further validates what people were already thinking.
Verdict: Round One finish via submissionThis guy might have the best ground game in the UFC, and he looks to be one win removed from a title shot. Apparently Maia wants to call out the UFC’s British poster boy, Michael Bisping.
Kenny Florian has removed any asterisk from his record. He is the real deal as he made quick of Joe Stevenson. And he did it in mocking fashion. Stevenson is known for his rear naked chokes and Florian decided to sink one in at 4:03 of the first round. Verdict: Round One finish by submission
Florian wants B.J. Penn now, but will the UFC make him fight Sean Sherk first? After watching tonight’s fight, he may be ready to move up in division! KenFlo is on a six-fight win streak.
Dustin Hazelett means business. He was recently awarded his black belt in BJJ and apparently Tamdan McCrory wasn’t informed. Hazelett had one submission attempt turn into another before finally sinking in an armbar. Verdict: Round One finish by submission
Hazelett looks ready for another fight with a Top 10 welterweight. Perhaps Mike Swick, Diego Sanchez, or John Fitch would be willing to oblige him.
Gabriel Gonzaga, Is it just me or is it fun to watch Gabe win? He made quick work of a relatively no-name fighter in Josh Hendricks. So what’s next for “Napao?” Perhaps a rematch with the fallen Couture or a battle of with surging heavyweight Shane Carwin. Verdict: Round One finish by TKO.
This article, like UFC 91, will be a quick climax. For a live blog of the night click here. I hope you were satisfied. If not, you will have to wait until Josh Koscheck “fights for the troops” on Dec. 10.
Here’s looking forward to UFC 92 to find out who Brock Lesnar will defend his heavyweight tile against. Is just me or does that sound really weird?!

Yeah it sounds weird...Brock Lesnar....UFC Heavyweight Champion...... Although a Nogueria/Lesnar fight would sound good on a card UFC 100?

Ha, you are right about that Sean. Although I think it will happen before then. UFC 100 wont happen till probably next summer (may, june, or july). You think they will put it off that long?

Frank Mir says Brock is vulnerable to submissions ..so he could be in for a world of hurt. Facing one of the two greatest sub specialist in MMA,he should bet some sub defence training soon..(check out my latest article click on profile pic)/
thanks stoker

The way its looking Brock may want to keep the fighting standing. He also has great take down defense. Would Nog/Mir even get the chance to take the fight to the ground and work for a submission?!

I was shocked when Brock became the UFC heavyweight champion, not that I doubted him, but I just thought Randy was going to be able to use his experience and win. I was also very surprised that most fights ended in the 1st round.
Gonzaga vs Carwin that sounds good dude.

The top of the new Heavyweight division (250+) looks good with:
1. Lesnar
2. Gonzaga
3. Velasquez
4. Carwin
Any fighter at 220-235 is not in the awkward position of fighting guys 25-50lbs heavier then them or cut 20-30lbs to make LHW. It may be a few years from now but I think they will create a Super Heavyweight division. As MMA grows, kids that would have grown up to be 300lb offensive linemen will be competing in the UFC. But for now we can watch the big boys beat up on those puffed up LHW's!

Nog is great- dont get me wrong. But Lesnar will display superb take down defense. And now that he has proven a good stand up game do you see Nog getting it to the ground and locking in a submission on this behemoth?

You didn't believe me Brian when I said this fight will be determined on the feet!

"Wrestler vs wrestler is a very bad matchup for both fighters. Look for each fighter to neutralize each others wrestling (which both are heavily defendant on) regardless of size and strength. This fight will be determined in the clinch or in the standup."
You totally called it Robert! Good Great analysis. Hopefully you will be more active on the site man!

Anyway, about the HWT tournament, Brock is gonna take it. He shows improvement in all areas every fight. If the top heavyweights can't beat him now, what's the division gonna look like a year from now? He really is a top notch athlete, he just has to shore up his mma skills as a whole. I believe it's gonna come down to NOG vs BROCK. Brock will dominate. Just look at Herring vs NOG, or Fedor vs NOG. Herring should've won if only he could've stuffed the take downs. Fedor just beat him up and was never in any real danger of his bjj.
