WWE: My Friday Night Smackdown, 7/22 Edition
Welcome Bleachers to another edition of My Friday Night Smackdown.
Before I begin, let's take a look at the results of My Money in the Bank.
Beth Phoenix defeated Kelly Kelly after a distraction from the Bella twins to retain her Divas Championship.
Michael McGillicutty and David Otunga took on the Usos and retained their Tag Team Championship due to interference from Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel.
Wade Barrett won the Smackdown MITB.
Randy Orton defeated Christian to retain his World Heavyweight Championship.
Wade Barrett cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase and became the new World Heavyweight Champion.
The Empire Alliance attacked the Big Show; he would be unable to compete in the Raw MITB.
Drew McIntyre won the Raw MITB after Skip Sheffield made his WWE return. Sheffield is now part of the Empire Alliance.
John Cena and CM Punk both defeated Alberto del Rio in a very confusing ending. Cena was deemed WWE Champion due to the fact that the match was a draw. Vince McMahon came down to the ring and vacated the WWE Championship instead.
Now let's kick off the show!

Opening Segment
1 of 8The Empire Alliance starts off the show.
William Regal is all smiles as his group has the World Heavyweight Champion Wade Barrett, the Raw MITB winner Drew McIntyre, Sheamus and their newest member Skip Sheffield.
Barrett grabs a mic and says that "now maybe everyone will realize that the Empire is for real and not to be taken lightly." He says the group will only get better as time goes on and nobody can stop them. Barrett says that he is on his way to becoming the best World Heavyweight Champion in history and soon, Drew McIntyre will become the WWE Champion.
Barrett then says that Skip Sheffield will be a vital addition to the group, once again proving how unstoppable the group will be.
Randy Orton's music hits, and he makes his way to the ramp. Orton defeated Christian at MITB, but Barrett cashed in the Smackdown briefcase on him. Orton grabs a mic and says that Barrett stole his championship from him.
Orton says that he is using his rematch clause tonight, and he will be taking back his World Heavyweight Championship. Barrett says that he can't fight Orton tonight because he has a plane to catch, because he is going to show of his championship to everyone in the miserable United States. Orton tells Barrett that he isn't going anywhere.
"I just came from Teddy Longs office, and Barrett, tonight you and I are going one on one for the World Heavyweight Championship." Wade is yelling at Orton, but he is not finished just yet. "Oh, and Wade, to ensure that there is no outside interference, that match will be inside of a steel cage!"
Barrett is furious, but Orton just has a sinister grin on his face as we head to commercial.
Match 1: Jey Uso vs. Justin Gabriel
2 of 8Jey Uso is out first to a good reaction.
Justin Gabriel follows to good heat.
A video from MITB is played that shows Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel interfering in the Tag Team Championship match.
Gabriel and Uso lock up with Uso hitting a hip toss to start off the bout. Gabriel quickly gets back to his feet and hits Jey with a leg sweep, taking him to the ground. Jey gets up before Gabriel can do anything, and the two lock up again.
This time Jey backs Gabriel into the corner and starts a 10 punch count. Jey hits all 10 punches, and Gabriel stumbles out of the corner. Jey hits a bulldog and goes for the pin. Gabriel kicks out at two and the match continues.
Jey throws Gabriel off the ropes and goes for a clothesline. Gabriel ducks and runs off the other rope. Gabriel hits a crossbody and goes for the pin. Jey kicks out at two.
Gabriel grabs Jey and throws him into the corner.Ā Gabriel goes for a running clothesline, but Jey dodges it and hits a neckbreaker. Jey goes for the pin and gets a two count. Jey goes to the top rope and is looking to hit a frog splash. Jey jumps off but Gabriel rolls out of the way. Jey lands chest first on the mat.
Gabriel quickly gets to his feet and climbs the top rope.Ā Gabriel goes for and hits a 450 splash. Gabriel pins Jey for the victory.
Match 2: Cody Rhodes vs. Ezekiel Jackson
3 of 8Cody Rhodes is out first to nice heat.
Ezekiel Jackson is out next to a good reaction.
We see a video of last weeks attack on Jackson by DiBiase and Rhodes.
The match starts off with Jackson going after Rhodes, but Rhodes uses his quickness and dodges the big man. Rhodes lands a few punches before Jackson goes after him again. Rhodes dodges him again and lands a few kicks. Rhodes goes off the ropes looking forĀ a knee to Jackson's face. but Jackson hits him with a big clothesline and Rhodes goes down.
Jackson grabs Rhodes and hits a slam. He grabs him again and hits another slam. Jackson lets out a big yell when Ted DiBiase jumps up on the apron. Jackson punches DiBiase in the jaw, and he falls to the outside. Rhodes takes advantage of the distraction and hits his signature kick from the top rope on Jackson.
Jackson goes down to one knee as Rhodes hits a dropkick to his head. Jackson is down, and Rhodes goes for the pin. Jackson throws Rhodes off at two. Rhodes gets up and grabs Jackson. Rhodes goes for the Cross Rhodes, but Jackson picks him up and hits a back drop.
Jackson then connects with two big clotheslines and a shoulder block. Rhodes backs into the corner and starts grabbing his face, and the referee checks him out. DiBiase jumps up on the apron and locks in the Dream Street on Jackson. Jackson flips DiBiase into the ring and grabs him and locks in the Torture Rack. Jackson throws DiBiase off just as Rhodes goes for a boot to his face.
Jackson dodges the boot and grabs Rhodes. Jackson locks in the Torture Rack and Rhodes is getting ready to tap out when DiBiase storms the ring. The referee calls for the bell and Jackson wins via D.Q. DiBiase attacks Jackson but the big man clotheslines him. Jackson turns around and gets hit with a kick to his face and a Cross Rhodes.
Cody grabs a paper bag and puts it on Jackson's head. DiBiase brings Cody the Intercontinental Championship, and he holds it above his head before throwing it on Jackson.
We head to commercial.
Teddy Long's Office
4 of 8Back from commercial, the Empire Alliance is in Long's office complaining about Orton using his rematch clause. Long tells the group that Randy can do whatever he wants with his rematch clause. He says he can use it at anytime and however he wants. Long tells the group that the rematch clause is just as good as the MITB briefcase.
Drew McIntyre tells Long that he can't do this and that he is a terrible general manager. Long tells Drew that he isn't even on Smackdown anymore, so "why do you keep coming back here? Let me tell you something playa. You keep coming on my show so I'm going to put you to good use. Drew you are going to have a match tonight. An that match is next playa, holla holla."
The Empire Alliance leaves the office, and Long sits down in his chair as we go back to ringside.
Match 3: Drew McIntyre vs. ?
5 of 8Drew McIntyre is out first to good heat. He comes out with his MITB briefcase and Skip Sheffield at his side. The two men get in the ring and await Drew's opponent.
Kane's pyro goes off and he makes his way down to the ring.
Drew McIntyre looks a little nervous as the match begins.
McIntyre and Kane lock up, but Kane overpowers McIntyre and backs him into the corner. Kane lets off McIntyre, and he slaps Kane in the face. Kane goes for a big right hand and connects with it. Kane then hits a big uppercut and goes for a big clothesline. Drew hits Kane with a big boot, and Kane hits the floor. Drew begins to stomp on Kane, but the big man is starting to get up.
McIntyre runs off the ropes looking to hit another boot, but Kane grabs him for a choke slam. Kane lifts Drew up, but he slips off and hits Kane with a back breaker. McIntyre goes for the pin and gets a two count. McIntyre gets up and walks towards the ropes. Kane goes for a big boot but Drew pulls the top rope down, and Kane goes to the outside.
McIntyre distracts the referee while Skip Sheffield hits Kane with a huge clothesline. Skip throws Kane back in the ring, and Drew goes for the pin. Drew gets a two count and looks likeĀ he is getting angry. Drew lifts Kane up and has him in position for a Future Shock DDT. Kane gets out of the hold and hits McIntyre with a big uppercut. Kane goes off the ropes and hits a big boot.
McIntyre goes down, and Kane throws him in the corner. Kane hits a big running clothesline and then a sidewalk slam. Kane goes to the top rope and is waiting to hit a flying clothesline. Skip Sheffield jumps up on the apron and shakes the rope. Kane lands on the turnbuckle, and Drew quickly grabs him and has him in position for a Future Shock from the top rope.
Drew goes for it and hits the move. McIntyre pins Kane for the victory.
Backstage with the Miz
6 of 8Miz is backstage talking to Maryse and Rosa Mendes. He tells them he didn't really want in the MITB match anyway. He says he doesn't need a briefcase to win a championship. Kelly Kelly walks in and asks the Miz why he needed the briefcase to win his WWE Championship in the first place?
Miz gets in her face and tells her that maybe she should run along and go play with the Bella Twins or something. Kelly slaps Miz in the face, and Miz gets angry. Miz screams and gets up and runs after Kelly. Miz turns the corner and runs right into Kane. Kane, who is still upset about his loss to McIntyre, grabs Miz and throws him into the brick wall.
Kane the choke slams him through the food table and leaves.
Miz is lying there when Kelly comes up with a note. She reads it to Miz:
"Miz you can't seem to get anything going in your favor. Miz I have a challenge for you, if you can win three matches before Summerslam, I will reveal myself at Summerslam, and you and I can go one on one. I hope you win Miz, because I am getting bored, and I need some ring action."
On the back of the note is the letter "i".
Main Event: Wade Barrett vs. Randy Orton (W.H.C .Steel Cage Match)
7 of 8The cage is lowered into position and Randy Orton makes his way to the ring. Orton looks determined to walk out of the cage with the Championship.
Wade Barrett is out next with all the members of the Empire Alliance at his side. They receive good heat, and Wade enters the cage. Tony Chimel gives the main event announcements and reads the names and weights of the two men. The referee closes the door, and the match is underway.
Orton goes right after Barrett as the match begins. Orton punches him and puts him in the corner. Orton hits about five punches before Wade pushes him out of the corner. Orton comes back and lands a few more punches before Wade lands a big right hand and a clothesline. Orton gets back to his feet and attacks Barrett some more. Barrett is backed into the corner, and Orton is going crazy on him with right hands.
Barrett stumbles out of the corner, and Orton hits a drop kick on him. Orton grabs Barrett and goes to throw him into theĀ cage, but Barrett counters and hits Orton with a suplex that sends him flying into the steel cage. Barrett regains his composure as Orton is down. Barrett runs at Orton and hits him with a big boot against the side of the cage.
Orton is down, and Barrett asks for the cage door to be opened. Barrett gets to the door, but Orton jumps on his back and locks in a sleeper hold. The door is closed and the match continues. Barrett flips Orton over and goes for a dropkick to the back of his head, but Orton moves out of the way and Barrett hits the mat. Barrett gets up and Orton hits him with an RKO!
Orton asks for the cage door to be opened and he crawls over to it. He gets his head and upper body out of the cage, butĀ Sheamus Brogue Kicks the cage door into Randy's skull. Randy stops moving and Barrett drags him back into the ring. The door is closed, and we continue.
Barrett lifts Orton up and hits him with a back breaker. Barrett locks in a Boston Crab on Orton. Orton powers out of it and hits a drop kick. Orton stumbles to his feet, and Barrett hits him with a clothesline. Barrett grabs Orton and hits him with the Wasteland. Barrett begins to climb the cage and gets to the top. Orton quickly stumbles to his feet and grabs Barrett's boot. Barrett tries kicking him off but Orton pulls Barrett back over the side of the cage and pulls him off.
Barrett grabs Orton and throws him down to the mat, but Orton gets up and hits another RKO. Orton calls for the door, and it is opened. He is going out the door when Sheamus goes for a Brogue kick. Orton sees him and pulls the cage door in. Sheamus has nothing to kick and instead goes flying over the steel steps. Orton gets to the steel steps, but McIntyre hits him upside the head with the briefcase. Orton stumbles and falls off the steel steps.
Skip Sheffield catches Orton, and his feet never touch the floor. Sheffield throws Orton back in the ring, and the match continues. Barrett is waiting in the ring and when Orton gets up, he grabs him and hits a Wasteland. Barrett opens the door and walks out. Wade Barrett retains his World Heavyweight Championship.
