WWE: Why Kofi Kingston Deserves to Win Raw's 'Money in the Bank' Match
In a previous article, I stated that Alberto Del Rio should not win Raw's "Money In The Bank" ladder match. In that same article, I implied that the man winning the briefcase should instead be Kofi Kingston.
This, as expected, sparked a debate as to who should win the match. Today, I am going to tell you why I believe Kingston deserves a chance to become the WWE champion for the first time in his career.

BS Meter on Latest Wrestling Rumors 🌡️
Kofi has done just about everything there is to do in the mid-card of the WWE. He's won six championships, claiming every mid-card title there is to claim. He has feuded with the likes of Dolph Ziggler, Randy Orton, Alberto Del Rio and Shelton Benjamin, and he stole the show with all of them.
I simply ask: What else must he prove for the WWE to recognize him as "main event" material?
In-ring work?
He's one of the top in the company today.
When Kofi steps in the ring, you know you are in for a show.
For example, his series of matches with Dolph Ziggler have all been very good, despite being dull last summer (much less this summer).
Mic skills?
Contrary to popular belief, Kingston is good on the mic; many promos of his have proven this.
For instance, his promo from this past Monday night was far from awful.
A gimmick change?
Well, not only is that on the higher-ups, but he also has shown that he can play a serious role in some of the previously mentioned feuds.
However, maybe a heel turn wouldn't be the best option for Kofi.
The WWE Needs An African-American Face In the Main Event
In WWE history, we have only witnessed one African-American hold World Championship gold (Booker T).
Now, this is 2011.
I am a white male, and I have a problem with this.
What happens when a black kid wonders why none of his WWE heroes look like him?
It's time for the WWE to get out of the Dark Ages and reward the deserving talent, no matter what color their skin is. I happen to believe that Kofi Kingston is deserving, and that doesn't mean throwing him in yet another stereotypical gimmick (R-Truth, anyone?).
He's The Most Over Mid-Carder In the WWE
I've used this many times as a reason for why Kingston deserves to be a world champion by this point in his career.
Nevertheless, it is still true.
The kids eat up everything he does, from the boom hand motion to sporting his t-shirts. We always see a couple of Kofi signs—and the pop, of course.
Heck, this is better than some current main-eventers.
Whatever you think of him, you can't deny that the kids love him. And if we have learned one thing from the PG Era, it is that kids equal money.
Look at where this has placed John Cena.
Closing Argument
Kofi Kingston has a certain connection with the crowd. He has charisma oozing out of him, is entertaining and steals the show with most of his matches.
In this way, he reminds me of Jeff Hardy. Unfortunately, Hardy's drug abuse has gotten the better of him. Why can't Kofi be the one to fill the void that Hardy left vacant?
Kofi has proven that he is worthy of winning the "Money In The Bank" match. As fellow Bleacher Report writer Phantom has pointed out, Kofi cashing in on his former tag-team partner (CM Punk) would make perfect sense.
Then again, when is the last time that the WWE did something that made sense?
