Tour de France 2011 Kicks off on July 2nd
Contador has won the event in back to back years after also winning the event back in 2007.
There is no doubt that Contador is one of the premier riders in the world, but like Lance Armstrong, he has been the center of a steroid controversy. Contador has twice been the center of a scandal but nothing has ever been proven.
According to Sky Sports, Alberto Contador was booed at the team presentation after stating that it would be ridiculous to strip him of his 2010 title. He was recently quoted as saying,
Since the beginning of last season no-one has been tested more than me and, let's be clear, no-one will be tested more than me during this race.
My position has always been zero tolerance for doping. I'm 100% against doping, but everybody can believe what they want to.
Contador appears very confident in his lawyers to clear his name and prove that he was not under any sort of performance enhancing drugs and he insists that he is completely clean.
With the 2011 Tour de France just days away it will be interesting to see if any of this will distract Contador or if he can come away with a third straight victory.
