Oakland Raiders: Is Tim Brown The Team's Savior?

Raider Card AddictOct 15, 2008

Well, it makes for good sales, anyway.

The news media, for the most part, has been airing out details, via the Sacramento Bee, that Tim Brown likes the idea of helping the Raiders regain some of their lost luster.

It's a little shocking, considering the last time Tim was playing in Oakland, he was told they couldn't use his services any more. Tim moved on to play for Gruden, like any other ex-Raider player, but it just wasn't the same Tim.

Of course, it's still one of the more popular players in Oakland's recent history, it's not all that bad. One thing he'd love to do, is squelch the media bashers, who don't seem to have time to make fun of the Lions, Bengals, or Chiefs....even though those three clubs seem to be in worse straits than the Raiders.

Tim also had an interesting injection into the Rich Gannon story.....from the sounds of it, Gannon was not thrilled to play here....sounding almost like Warren Sapp.

But what is truly funny, is if anyone would complain about the Raiders, wouldn't you think Tim Brown had seen something? After all, Tim had been there, both in LA and in Oakland, for most of his career.

No, instead Tim was painting a better picture of Oakland....Here's a quote, via the blog at Sacramento Bee:

"This is a place that can be turned around very easily," Brown said. "As much as people love Al, there's going to have to be somebody else there, I believe."

"As much as you can defend them certainly there are certain things that are indefensible," Brown said. "...Right now the perception of the Raiders is not good and that's what's so bad because it is a great organization. It's done great things in the NFL and for people to be anyway thinking the Raiders are just a laughing stock of the league, it hurts me. It really hurts me to the core. I really wish there was something I could do on a day-to-day basis to help that situation out."

Tim, come on back. If anything, you can be the door between Al, and the players....and who knows...you'd probably have a better grasp on the WR position that's killing us right now.
