Saints and Brees have Enormous Day

Drew Brees spoiled new Oakland head coach Tom Cable’s debut with a pummeling. Drew Brees had another 300 yard passing with 320 yards passing and three touchdown passes on 26/30. Brees seemed like he threw to everyone he could. Eight players had receptions. Leading receivers for New Orleans included Lance Moore who had seven receptions for 97 yards and Devery Henderson who had two receptions for 68 yards.

Saints’ Reggie Bush had two total touchdowns. He ran for a three yard TD in the second quarter and caught a 15-yard pass in the third. He had 27 total rushing yards and 40 total receiving yards.

Oakland had a terrible game. Jamarcus Russell and company could not get any offense going as they only had 226 total yards compared to the Saints’ 441 total yards. Their only score game from a Sebastian Janikowski field goal in the first quarter.

Russell was 13/35 with 159 passing and yards and threw an interception. Justin Fargas managed only to get 35 rushing yards on ten carries.

Leading receiving for Oakland was Zach Miller with three receptions for 46 yards.
