Dan Marino, Jon Elway, Joe Montana, Peyton Manning! What do those Quarterbacks have in common? They are all First Round Draft Picks that are either in or on their way to the Hall Of Fame. Dan Marino a late first round pick broke every passing record and held them until the great Brett Favre came along, a Second Round Pick. Joe Montana a mid First Round Pick took his 49er's team to 4 Super Bowl Championships. Jon Elway had the infamous mishap with not signing with the Baltimore Colts, took his Bronco's team to 5 Super Bowls and 2 wins. Peyton Manning the First overall pick for the Indianapolis Colts Has took them to 8 post seasons in his 10 year career, 1 Super Bowl win, and the longest consecutive 4,000 passing yard seasons in NFL history.

Rex Grossman, Tim Couch, Joey Harrington, Alex Smith! What do those Quaterbacks have in common? They are all Busts. Tim Couch First overall pick for the Clevland Browns, took them to one playoff appearence in his career, and he wasn't the starter for most of that season. Joey Harrington has been bouncing from team to team ever since his downfall with the Detroit Lions that drafted him 3rd overall. Alex Smith of the San Fransisco 49er's was a first overal pick over now Packers starter Aaron Rodgers has less than 15 wins in his 3 year career. Finally Bears 24th overall pick in the draft, Sexy Rexy. Rex Grossman being called a bust is a topic that is up in the air, true he has a 19-11 record as a starter and took his team to a Super Bowl, but he has 34 turnovers in his 32 starts of his career.

Rex Grossman did not lead the Bears to a Super Bowl in 2006, their defence and Special Teams did. In big situations he turns the ball over and puts his team into a hole in which he can not get his team out of. Just because you draft a Quarterback in the First Round doesn't mean you will get an all-pro Super Bowl winning player. Even the great Dan Marino never won a Super Bowl.

Kyle Orton, Tom Brady, Tony Romo! What do these Quarterbacks have in common? All later picks in the NFL Draft. Tony Romo was an undrafted Quarterbak picked up by the Dallas Cowboys and played back up to the great Drew Bledsole, and once he went down Tony Romo took the wheel and has not let go taking them to the playoffs for two straight years and braking countless franchise records. Tom Brady, a late 6th Round Draft pick for the New England Patriots, and was stuck behind the great Drew Bledsole, until he went down in a week two match up against the New York Jets. Tom Brady took over and did not give up his job till this year when he got injured, but took his team to 4 Super Bowls and three victories, and braking an NFL record in passing touchdowns in a single season. Then we have Kyle Orton, a Fourth Round pick for the Bears, played back up for Rex Grossman in 2005, but got the starting role after Rex went down and Kyle went to lead them to a 10-5 record.

Kyle Orton played back up in the 2006 season behind Rex Grossman and Brian Griese, and again in 2007 season until the Quarterbak situation got out of hand and he got to start the last three games going 2-1. Going into Summer camp Kyle Orton and Rex Grossman had a competition to see who would be the starter, and Kyle Orton the Fourth Round pick won, not Rex Grossman the First Round pick. He currently has led the Bears to a 3-2 record in the 2008 season, which should be 5-0 but the defensive chokes has led to some loses. Kyle Orton has seemed to bring some consistancy to this Bears team and brings back some of that old Jim McMahon swagger back to the Bears.

  1. First, Montana was a third round draft pick, because he was so short at 6'0. I would edit that now, and put Jim Kelly of the Bills.
Put Montana with Brady and Romo.

  2. Orton is my guy for sure.
