The Rock: Why He's the Greatest WWE Superstar of All Time

Joe M.Correspondent IJanuary 2, 2017

The Rock is one of the greatest WWE Superstars of all-time.  But is he the greatest of all time?  There is an upper echelon of Superstars who have been a step above all the others.

In that elite league there are wrestlers like Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, Shawn Michaels, Triple H, The Undertaker, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, Bret Hart, John Cena, and yes, The Rock.

But is The Rock the best of them all?

The Rock is the best talker in wrestling history.  Yes, Hulk Hogan, Shawn Michaels, and Stone Cold all are great when it comes to getting on the mic, but The Rock is a notch above them all.

The Rock was able to work the crowd—get them to boo when he wanted them to boo and get them to blow the roof off the arena when he wanted them to cheer.  He was able to cut promos better than anyone, and we've all been seeing that lately on Raw.

Stone Cold is able to work the crowd, Hulk Hogan could work the crowd, but The Rock could work the crowd in a way that sets him apart.  With all of his catchphrases and his charisma, he was undoubtedly the best talker in wrestling history.

Then there is the in-ring work.  Hulk Hogan has gone down as one of the best ever, but couldn't wrestle any better than The Great Khali.  The Rock, on the other hand, was able to carry out an amazing match every night.  He could main event WrestleMania with ease, and he had the in-ring skills to back it up.

It's a bold statement to say one wrestler is the best of all time, but there has to be one best of all time, and The Rock is that one.  At WrestleMania 28 in one year, when he makes his return to the WWE ring, we'll see why The Rock is the best.

This article is very much an opinion, and everybody has their own, feel free to debate in the comments!
