The Nets and Nuggets have met an "advanced" stage in their discussions for All-Star Carmelo Anthony. The framework for this deal is slightly different than the three team, fourteen player deal that was in place earlier in the season.

The deal is just a straight trade between the two teams.

The new proposed deal will include: Derrick Favors, Devin Harris, Troy Murphy, Ben Uzoh, and four future first round picks. The Nets currently control five first round picks in the next two drafts.

The picks include the Nets own first rounders in 2011 and 2012 as well as the Lakers 2011 pick, and the Rockets and Warriors picks in 2012. There could be some discussion into who gets the Lakers pick as it will more than likely be in the late twenties to thirty in this years draft and less valuable than the other four.

Denver in return would send Carmelo Anthony, Chauncey Billups, Renaldo Balkman, and Melvin Ely to the Nets. Billups could return to the Nuggets if bought out although he has expressed interest in signing with the Miami Heat if released.

There is a reported meeting that may take place during All-Star Weekend between Anthony and Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov.
